I've seen just about all of herbie: fully loaded now, and there are 2 things that come to mind:
1. what are all these songs from the 60's/70's/80's doing in a movie aimed at teenagers?
2. what the hell are such respected actors (well, semi-quasi-respected actors) like matt dillon and michael keaton doing in a movie like herbie: fully loaded?!?
I really have no clue what the answer to the first question is.... to be honest, tho, I liked it. I'd much rather hear songs from the 60's/70's/80's in a movie than any of that rap/r & b crap. even if it's a cliche like playing born to be wild in a scene where there's lots of fast driving and even if it isn't the original artist.
the answer to question 2 is simple. m-o-n-e-y. but is there more to it? I'm thinking they both probably wanted to see if they could bang lindsay lohan. at least.... that's what I'd have been doing.

Hmmm now I recall why I rarely go to the cinema these days... I hated the bloody originals of these films and I simply cannot imagine enjoying that version regardless of the music they have chosen

don't get me wrong.... I wouldn't pay to see a movie like that. I doubt if I would pay to see any movie starring lindsay lohan unless I knew she was running around naked for a good deal of the time.
however....
when you have cable tv, where there quite often seems to be (to paraphrase bruce springsteen) 200 channels and nothing on..... well, herbie is some ok entertainment. mindless, yes... but I don't really wanna have to think too much when I'm watching a movie. unless I'm thinking abput pointless things like the 2 questions I asked about the movie in the first place. lol.
I still might never have seen any of it except for my mom, who seems to gravitate toward movies like that. give her a home alone or a baby's day out and she's a happy camper.
