chewed her fingernail (toenail?) to short...

She won't stop licking it and keeps it raw

Now I have to keep it bandaged or it isn't going to heal. I wrapped it with an ace bandage. She was able to remove that.

soooo....

Ever seen a dog wearing a sock? It's funny. :D

Haha you should get some pics! That would be funny as hell to see hehe.

I would take pictures but she is hiding under the bed at the moment.

She hates me.

She hasn't been walked in three days because of this.. and she is pissed.

My sister's dog kept falling down on the new hard wood floors... she got him slipper socks to wear in the house.

Doesn't dogs saliva have something in it that helps them heal?
Think I read that somewhere...

CC

actually yes it does... but if they lick to much it keeps it from healing.

She had half her foot raw from the licking.

PCG-oh.. slipper socks.. Good idea. Thanks ;)

Ahhh.. Yikes...

So.. how are you keeping the sock on??

She has removed it once, I scolded her. She's a very smart dog and hopefully learned that I'm the boss and the sock will stay on until I remove it.

She's like an unruly 3 year old though. So I might have to put the dreaded "cone" on her. (The plastic collar that looks like an over sized funnel)

Spinaroonie.. what has your son being doing to my dog?

Duct tape.

Duct tape would hold that sock on there....no problem. <g>

(And now you know why I don't have a dog of my own) LOL
V~~~~

we had to do this for my dog also and he looked very funny ... he pulled nearly out his dupla (sp) claw

So, now she's laying under the bed thinking "Goddamn human thinks SHE's the alpha bitch. i'll show her. Just wait til she goes to sleep tonight. I'm gonna take this sock RIGHT OFF and then run through the house with scissors.

And freakydeak... that's the OTHER reason your dog is hiding under the bed.

Yeah, the trouble with dog-spit is it will dissolve scabs , & sometimes they'll just keep drinking their own blood & you won't notice they're losing it faster than they're recycling it.

Use positive re-enforcement. Give her some of that frozen food from the last millenium that you're afraid to eat yourself.;)

let me make a suggestion...

I used to work as a pet tech. There is cuticle powder for this, that will stop bleeding and treat discomfort. After you apply that wrapp it in a small bandage and spray the bandage with a little bit of bitter apple (its a ferret training aid). Animals hate the taste of this. It will keep your dog from chewing at the bandage and they will heal in no time. You may want to spray a little bitter apple on their nails when its healed to keep this from reoccuring. :)

Gotta love a man who has his gruesome info down pat.

bitter apple doesn't help... she loves the stuff. :D

She just came in from outside.. and the sock is still on. Grandma is feeding her afternoon snack..

They go in tomorrow for their "spa" day (baths, nail trimming and flea treatment).. I'll talk to the vet about her nails. She has the horrible habit of chewing them.

I think it's boredom. I can't wait until her training is done and she goes to work.

Ever heard a dog sigh from boredom? Spend the day at my house.. ;)

Hey freakygurl! Do you live next door to me? I've been wondering why the neighbor-dog's wearing socks for the last week. Now I know. :)

And, if nobody's said anything recently -- congrats for not smoking.

well freakygurl, it seems you have yourself a freaky dog. I can't believe she loves bitter apple. FREAKYDOG...LOL

It's impossible for you to be my neighbor. All the houses around me are empty. Seriously.. the people all moved. I'm starting to get a complex :D

thank you

That picture was hysterical. lol One of my dogs loved bitterapple too. Lemon zest howerver! lol That he hated. So I rubbed some rind on the sock before putting it on him. Worth a shot.

Also, there is not such thing as ferret training. LMAO! I've had three over my life time and it just don't exist.
