I noticed recently a lot of AH'ers on My Space and I wondered about this. Is it merely a cooler word for 'friendsters'? Or is it something way cool?

Is it worth it? What is it worth? :)

Only just started doing it myself.

I'm planning ahead for when I'm published. Most publishers ask for a blog and/or a website address when you submit.

At least most of mine do.

Thanks RG. I went to join to see what it was all about, and it struck me as a kind of 'Friendsters'. About the blogging though? What kind of response do you get?

Not a whole fuck of a lot. But I don't do a lot of blogging either. ;)

I'm not as into it as a lot of people are, but there are an awful lot of people on there.

It's the WWW. version of teens hanging out at the mall or cruising in a 20-something night club. I have a MySpace account, but do more blogging at my LiveJournal than anything. I understand Yahoo's 360 is more 'mature'.

I have one on livejournal, and one on myspace. I have re-connected with several people via myspace, so it is like a friendsters thing- but, I think more universal. i have friends- like my stepdaughter- that I can message on her myspace page easier than via email. And I've met some folks local to me that I would actully like to meet in person!

I use mine for my writing blog, and I have gotten some decent convos. Not as much feedback as I always hope for.

Myspace is a real pain in the neck for too many ads, too many bells and whistles.

One group of artists that I belong to have just created a blog at wordpress, so... well, fuck.

I read an article last week that said many of the kids are leaving myspace for something new ("myspace is so last year," they say). Once they all leave, if the place can still operate, it might become useful. ;) Seriously, I've seen people using it fairly successfully to network.

*jumps you and simultaneously beats you for not knowing about myspace*

there now darling, go to this site, and register.

www.myspace.com

:D :D

I am the music whore of MySpace. Bands add me for no reason... bands from other countries, bands for genres I don't listen to, bands I've never heard of...

I'm on there, but fuck me if I can remeber my link. Current user naem is Changeling.

I use my livejournals more (yes, I have like six of them, for various reasons.)

MySpace...Livejournal...Yahoo 360...Diaryland...Blogspot....I've experienced them all. MySpace is my favorite for the sheer fact of the number of friends one can have is intimidatingly high. I get new friend requests almost every day.

The downfall is that, as nonurotic pointed out, it's THE place for teens to be. There's an INSANE amount of flirting that goes on. But not like the friendly flirting that goes on here; I found the flirting there to be ore creepy.

But it's worth it cos I can just ignore the creepy people and have my wonderful circle of friends. Plus, it's just nice to have a central site to refer people to. You can do so much more, HTML-wise, on MySpace than on Livejournal or Yahoo 360.

So I suppose it's really a matter of what's important to you.

That's because there are programs that bands can use to automatically seek out MySpace people and send friend requests. My brother, who is a rapper, uses one. he's got like thousands of friends.

Personally, I don't see the the point of having a friend whose only correspondance you will ever have be of the obligatory "thx for the add" comment. But, that's just me.

that's why I send them messages before I'll accept- my most recent one has been:

Do I have 'another notch fro the bedpost' taped to my back or something? Who the fuck are you, how the fuck did you find me, and give me one good reason to add you, or I'm going to attach your profile link to a spam complaint.
The ones who send back a message get added. :D Except for The Dream Engine and HIM, those two I added all on my own.

I've go a MySpace for bullitens and such. I get much better response from my Live Journal. I'm there mostly, to me it's just more intuitive. Plus with a LJ frineds page... I just see thier blogs, I don't have to click through.

As a published author, I get site click throughs from my LJ to my website and books. As far as I can determine I've never had one from my My Space page.

Are you calling me non-neurotic? I am so neurotic.

;) Just kidding.

I have no idea what my user name means anymore. I just liked being called 'neo' and I have/had several Google pages credit to the nick, neonurotic.

Edited to add that Blogspot seems to be paticular favorite of professionals (and Literotica rip-off artists for their pay-site porn portals)

(As you know) I put something on Bolt, which appears to have some affiliation with myspace. I've found both of them to be a bit 'much', especially at this mellowing age.
I've signed up with several other blogs and journals and I get really excited about the possibilities, but then I get that blank page and, "who am I talking to? Nobody's listening. Nobody gives a fuck." Like I'd have a more receptive audience if I was alone in the woods or on a mountaintop.

But I still like the idea.
Maybe someday.

So you'd have to determine what the worth of it is, then investigate.

I have a myspace, an lj, and I used to use blogspot. My blogspot was google searchable which makes it good for people to find, however lj and myspace are both much easier for people to keep track of once I'm found. I don't know iff I can even get an rss feed for my friends who have blogspot blogs. Not that i blog anything worthwhile. I would share.. except that I'd be embarrased at my boringness and anyone who cares has enough clues to find me. I like Myspace best because it is most useful for keeping track of friends.. what with pictures and bulletins and blogs and messenging.. lj, doesn't work that well if you don't have a lot to say.

and I always thought of you as neon-nurotic..
