I'm living in hiding from my 7 year olds natural father, so it's from experience I'd say she needs to vanish & become untraceable as soon as she can coz men like that never forget and never stop looking!
I really hope someone sorts this **** out permanently! I know you must feel pretty impotent in this situation but you're helping her more than you'll ever imagine just by caring.

personally I like the thought of the good old "barb wire & pipe" trick tether the other end of the wire, somewhere nice and remote so that he has the simple choice...either stay there & die or pull himself loose & bleed to death with his guts hanging out of his arse, trying to reach help.

Well, I've mentioned she can come stay with me, but that might not work either. Although all he knows is that I live in Oregon. We'll see, for now with her health problems, she can't leave where she is, she'd die on the trip. She gets dialysis three times a week, and is on a stomach pump.

You'd think so. Here in Oregon, if you get put in jail for assault there is no chance of bail. It's an automatic 9 month sentence. And the victim doesn't have to press charges, the state will. But things are a lot different in the eastern states. I don't know what the laws are over there, obviously they're different, cause he got out on bail.

Though I hate to say it, hoping that she or her godmother can get to a phone, and that the police would get there on time is much like hoping one will win the $100 million lottery - it's possible, but the odds are greatly against you.

She'd be much better off with a shotgun - even loaded with nothing but rock salt, or perhaps two rounds of rock salt and then buckshot, in case he's hard to persuade - and the will to use it if necessary. If she's not a firearms person, then personal protection devices such as stun guns are available from a wide variety of sources. Rocksalt my ass..... Fiochi makes a 12 guage load that is filled with hollow steel beads,(like you cut them off a bead chain) and a fast burning powder.
Cheap, almost no recoil, and at over about ten feet will not penetrate both sides of a standard shitrock interior wall.

Oh and a tip...NO BUCKSHOT... Birdshot only - unless you really want to be responsible for the people in the next house over.
*Grin* at room ranges ...very fine birdshot does more damage than buckshot..And is MUCH safer for bystanders.
Stun guns are not %100, and require you to get too close.
If she is not a firearms person ..More than likely you know someone that is.

Not knowing where your friend is certainly makes helping her difficult. I would definetely encourage her to find out if there is a battered women's shelter in her community. If she won't do it for herself tell her to do it for her children. They will give her the support and safety she needs so that she can regroup.
