I probably won't be on for a while, because MY FUCKING LAPTOP chose this point of all points to crap out on me in a way that has made me decide not to get it fixed. Last time it did this actual smoke came out of it and it fried the CD/DVD combo drive just on existing energy, taking the adapter and battery with it in the process. It was still under warranty then, so that was cool. I only had to buy a battery.
This time the adapter decided to remove part of the computer when it pulled out, so I have NO idea how I'm going to retrieve my information, except possibly pay someone. The computer is essentially dead, and there's enough wrong with it that it's not worth getting it fixed. I had a whole argument with myself earlier.
So, see you in a while. Just briefly browsing and writing this I've had to minimize this screen half a dozen times to avoid various family members seeing it.
Like I need this when I'm essentially herding my students (at this point in the year it's like herding 20 puppies into doing what you want them to do)
Grrrr.

Sorry to hear about your laptop

Just thought I would let you know that if know a bit about the inside of a computer, it is possible to take your harddrive of your laptop, and by the use of a converter you should be able to get at most computer stores, to hook it up to a desktop computer (if you have one) and retrieve your data that way.

Well, that's just the shits, brioche.

I'd be lost without my laptop and my cell phone... I keep wondering how my life was before all this technology, How did I manage? LOL

I'm really sorry for you.

Extract the hard-drive, an easy job, ask a tecchie friend, your data is probably fine, and you can put a hard-drive on any PC. Might wanna see if they can swipe the RAM too.

Brioche sweety that SUCKS.

Here is hoping some luck comes your way and helps you to solve this :rose:
