My Own Economy Thread

According to J.D. Powers, among others, interest in EVs is picking up. About a quarter of shoppers polled (obviously not the HisArpies who can't buy shit) are considering an EV as their next car.

Light Duty Electric Drive Vehicles Monthly Sales Updates:

In July 2024, 132,114 HEVs (44,006 cars and 88,108 LTs) were sold in the United States, up 27.3% from the sales in July 2023.

Lots of growth. 👍

Trump is supposed to file a public document before he bails out of DJT. Let's hope his suckers aren't paying attention. I posted this somewhere else but here it is again. Stephanie Ruhle talks about when Trump bails.

On August 30 Sarasota judge denied Trump's motion to stop two of the original investors in Truth Social from selling their 18,000,000 shares. Down, down, down...

And what was that about issuing 37 million new shares of stock? Talk about dilution! This stock is a moldy dog turd to both fundamental and technical (chartist) analysts and investors. Which means the only reason to invest in this stock at this point is purely emotional. Leaving it to those who are still so slavishly worshipping Trump that they will get a second mortgage on their house to invest and try to drive the price up.

At this point, Trump trading cards might actually be a better investment.

Unless Jim Cramer is a MAGA zombie, he's screaming SELL, SELL, SELL!

I saw a tv commercial the other night where he's selling two dollar bills with his fist raised after he was grazed for $19.95. And MAGAs want to talk about the economy? It's no longer legal tender. Not even worth two dollars.

You obviously missed the part where the price was originally set at $40. But for a limited time only...

He's also selling his digital trading cards for $99 each (a bargain at any price, really). And if you buy 10, I believe, you get a single physical trading card in a plaque with a scrap from the suit that he was wearing during his debate with Biden (just like a game-worn jersey from LeBron or Mahomes!).

And pretty soon, a REAL $2 bill will get you a share of DJT stock!

The Trump family is going into Bit Coin
I hope all the Trumpers buy in!
They are minting another couple billion based on suckers!
Spending $0. With no useful product
“Earning” billions!
Barnum Bailey would be so proud of Trumplikans!!

What is a tariff??
Who pays it?
Who gets to set tariffs?
Who determines how the money will be spent?? Congress should accordingly to the Constitution. Was the Tea Tax a tariff???
Hmm?
What was the tea Tariff 1773?
Why should we trust Wikipedia?
Why weren’t you taught this in school or by “School House Rocks”!!?

1773

Boston-area merchants like John Hancock were so enraged by the 3-cents-per-pound tax on tea arriving in colonial ports that he declared that anyone who drank the 'baneful weed' and paid the tea tax was an 'Enemy of America'."

Then? They let the India Tea Company not pay the TARIFF
The North Ministry's solution was the Tea Act, which received the assent of King George on May 10, 1773.

This act restored the East India Company's full refund on the duty for importing tea into Britain, and also permitted the company, for the first time, to export tea to the colonies on its own account.

Tea Act. By reducing the tax on imported British tea, this act gave British merchants an unfair advantage in selling their tea in America. American colonists condemned the act, and many planned to boycott tea.
Boston Tea Party. When British tea ships arrived in Boston harbor, many citizens wanted the tea sent back to England without the payment of any taxes. The royal governor insisted on payment of all taxes. On December 16, a group of men disguised as Indians boarded the ships and dumped all the tea in the harbor
