We don't drink a lot of Bud Light in Australia as we prefer beer :ROFLMAO:

In saying this, as a reasonably well respected maker and marketer of wine, I am thinking two things:

1. Brands that endorse Dylan Mulvaney are heading towards the biggest marketing error since Coke changed their formula, or

2. Dylan Mulvaney is the author of one of the biggest marketing hoaxes in history and is literally laughing 'their' way to the bank!

Anyone else?

I’m going with marketing error.

Bud Light/Budweiser built its brand on the backs of Football fans and Frat party/poor college kids. This is the swill you drink at keg parties and when you didn’t know what good beer was.

Now you have a Harvard Bizz grad that was put in charge that I’m sure is younger and probably doesn’t have a clue about AB’s past and who they catered to.

Anecdotally, I was at my favorite watering hole last night and one of the patrons asked the bartender how Bud Light sales are going. She laughed and said it has cratered.

Seriously, if you’re over 20yrs old and still drinking this panther piss, you need your head examined!😂

Yeah. I don't see that happening. Maybe with everyone you know...

Those things are expensive: It's the Economy Stupid.

Marketing error is correct. Some news site or another indicated that no one in senior management at AB was aware of this campaign. I see this “Harvard Grad” will have a very short tenure at AB, likely looking for work May 1.

Zero proof, but my gut tells me we may find out eventually that Anheuser Busch received a lot of money from some politically-driven source to bolster the trans movement. But the losses they took have to be far worse than they expected and/or received.

More importantly, they couldn't have picked a worse spokesperson. Dylan Mulvaney, IMO, has done more damage than good for the LGBTQ community's reputation, en masse.

Dylan has also made a mockery of women by caricature-izing them in a way that pays zero respect to the decades-long fight that women have endured (and continue to endure) for not just rights, but respect.

I'm sorry, but Dylan didn't transition to a woman. He cosplayed his way to fame by publicly fetishizing what I can only describe as a coming-of-age teenage girl in the 1950's who dreams of being a submissive housewife.

I like all the Budweiser ads over the years, especially with the Clydesdales. And the frogs were pretty good. 🐸 “Bud”🐸 “Weis” 🐸 “Er.” And I just like the taste of Budweiser better than Coors or Miller. So basically, it’s the best tasting of the cheap draft beers.

Funny, that even Don Jr is calling on the protesters/boycotters (Funny spellcheck just tried to change boycotters to boy otters 🦦! 🤣)

And even Anheuser Busch must be feeling the pinch and wants to change some hearts and minds of beer swillers with this patriotic pitch:

His shtick makes zero sense.

He is an openly gay man. Gay men like men, not the little he is cosplaying.

Straight men aren't interested in a gay man cosplaying as a little.

Lesbians aren't interested in a gay man cosplaying as a little.

The market is speaking.

Someone needs to be fired over their poor decision-making and maybe they should eschew social media in their next gig.

I would have said it's a combination of the two, but apparently not.

I think it was reasonably thought out, but it's another example of how much fear and male insecurity is really out there. To me, it makes perfect sense to target the LGBQT market. Bud has been around forever, and @HumpDayHoratio is correct - it is frat swill. And older folks SHOULD be able to afford better. So if they are going to keep sales steady or up, they need a new market. Well, the conservative, middle America crowd grew up watching their parents reach for it, so that's not so much of an untapped market.
.
But the LGBQT market? The millennial and gen Y market? I can see that as un-tapped. And generally, these two groups are far more open -minded. In fact, the straight members of these groups might very well not touch the product at all unless Bud includes LGBQT folks.
.
For several years before I got divorced, I knew that my ex was unsettled. I knew he was about to have or was in the middle of his midlife crisis. But I couldn't reach him. So I waited him out, knowing the pain to change has to be more than the pain to stay the same. I figured when he hit bottom, and realized that his life wasn't working for him anymore, he would finally be ready to figure out how he needed to change. But I couldn't do it for him. What I didn't anticipate was that he would find another enabler that would feed into keeping his life the way it had been. Where I knew that if you stop moving, you simply stop - but she was willing to tell him all the things he wanted to hear to continue to fascade that the world around him wasn't changing and he could still do everything that he used to do.
.
This is the same kind of fight, and Bud simply didn't anticipate that their base cared that much about the other people they sold to. They weren't expecting that their conservative base was so tied in to the traditional Bud drinker who was willing to adopt the liberal boycott techniques against the targeted Woke co-drinkers.
.
It says a lot about the divide in our country, and how many people no longer believe in Live and Let Live. It's a scary time to be an American.

Who gives a fuck.

A spokes person has never persuaded me one way or the other to try a product.
Do I drink bud light? Yes.
I add a lime though.
Am I going to stop getting a bud light because someone I dislike is endorsing it?
Nope.
As for marketing. They are a huge company. One blip isn’t going to sink them.

If Jamaican beer brand Red Stripe decided to hire Rachel Dolezol to be their spokesperson, Black Red Stripe drinkers would be unanimously pissed. Also, there would not be a bunch of pointed stories by the left wing media calling them trans-racial bigots for not buying Red Stripe and calling out Dolezol as a race-faker. BTW, this Bud Light boycott is not going away...it's getting stronger.

Key word - the divide. That's what our government wants from us. "Divided we fall"
The government wants us divided? Really? You mean we can live in peace with the Christian Taliban that want to control every facet of our lives!

…OR…the average working man, who is the cash cow of this giant brand feels betrayed because they “honor” a clown , (yes, a clown. No woman acts like that unless they are a damned clown…its all just a clown show) not the financial base. Perhaps? Really, how many of these “high minded” individuals drink that low level swill? Not even the clown drank it. Be real. In the end, it’s just tipping of the cards from Bud, yes, sadly a lot of idiots on both sides. Kid Rock is and has always been an idiot. So big deal, and idiot is doing what they do. It’s small potatoes in the realm of “important issues” and just plain silly.
