My new wheels

Manual or AT?

Sounds like a good deal, if it's not a lemon...I'm no car expert. But you really don't want a sunroof, especially in rainy Oregon. They leak. That's less resale value, not more.

i've had several cars with sunroofs, including a 3 series, and none of them leaked.

nice car, btw

Beautiful car...the blue is a great color. Enjoy.
I would have preferred a lighter shade of blue, but it is nice. At different angles and in different light it seems a different color. In bright sunlight it is a brighter blue, and in darker light it seems to have some purple to it.

I have a lot of reading and exploring to do to figure out what all the buttons in and on it are, and all the cool little features. Took me a while to firgure out how to turn on the headlights.

Aren't the headlights auto? Hey had you looked at the car before? I know you were looking for blue. Did it find you?

It's a beauty. I'm sure it's a beauty to drive also. Congrats on the final decision.

I am past midlife idgot and I have never had a nice car before so I decided to get myself something nice for once. I have sacrificed for decades so my daughter could have a decent life despite the terror other people put her through, now I want something for myself.

For once I wanted something with a little performance, a little luxury and comfort. This was what I found.
Sounds familiar. You deserve it. Enjoy!

Be careful of the radar. Get yourself a detector and a jammer. ;)

There is a setting where they come on automatically when it gets dark, or you are in a tunnel.

Get to drivin' man! It's a 3 day weekend!
I am debating whether to go down to Oregon, but my father is sick and my kids haven't got back to me so I am not sure they will be around (they said they probably would, but I don't want to pop in unannounced) - I didn't get to see them last time - but I will be going down there in three weeks anyway.

It is kinda a crummy weekend to be out on the highways, and I should wait until I have full coverage (I only had liability on the beater).

I should probably stay home and get the Beemer (the bike) into shape for being sold. Gotta build up the old checking account - it's feeling kinda puny right now.

Sorry to hear your father is sick! True it isn't the best time to be out on the roads especially if you don't have full coverage yet! That's like tempting fate! Have fun with it anyway!!

Beautiful car Heretic! Glad you found something that you are happy with.
I think I will be happy. It drives very nicely and it addresses my worries about warranty problems: over three years and 43K miles left on the original factory warranty, and it comes with free maintenance for that period of time.

I am thinking when the current tires wear out I will get some nice polished 17" wheels, put summer tires on them and winter tires on the stock wheels.

The stock CD and stereo is adequate so I will leave that alone, but I am going to look into get a Valentine radar/laser detector.

Is it just my strange morning take on things or is the engine compartment look larger than the passenger compartment?

It is an inline six and Bimmers look larger in photos than in real life. I don't mind the long nose, I just wanted a car that was nimble in town, not hard to park and was not a large car. The wheel base is the same as C230K and only 8" longer than a bug - it handles rather nimbly. So far it feels very good - there is this bridge overpass over I-5 on my way home that is a long sweeping corner and it is a good place to pass a number of cars. It has about four expansion joints in it which upset a car taking it at speed - at least they did my Tercel at 80 MPH.

In the Bimmer it was like on rails - you still knew the joints were there, but they didn't affect how the car handled and I am sure the car could easily handle that corner at 100 MPH or more.

The Bimmer doesn't have as luxurious of a ride as the Mercedes, but it handles much more surely - and it is much better than that worn out Toyota which which was like riding in a water bed.
