My new vibe smells nail polish. I'm not kididing you! It has this really heavy smell. Must be the material (whatever that is!) Is this normal?

Apart from this it has 7 settings! Three speeds and four variating pulses. Geesh, sounds so high tech, but I should have expected that from a gadget guy. The pulses seem cool though....

Background story:

A package arrived for me today. It was a new vibe from my friend who's visiting this weekend. He says he was aiming to send it to me last week together with a CD filled with porn from his stash. He felt I needed a new vibe as the old one broke ages ago, and then I finally threw it out half a year ago.

The vibe's blue and with a pretty neat designer look to it. Usually am not keen on the whole "real look" thing, so when seeing the vibe on Ann Summers website I didn't like the head. In reality it's not too bad.

ULTRA SEVEN
This stunning silent blue 7½ /19cm sleek smooth bodied vibrator has a realistic contoural head of 5" /12cm at its widest girth. It has seven preset vibration settings, three variable speeds and four variable pulses.

The smell may be the vibe itself, but is more likely to be the result of the cleaning materials used before it was packaged. I dare say that after a few uses it won't smell that way any longer ;)

Abstruse, hehe I think you still will. Apart from this weekend when my friend gets here... Hey, I get both a new vibe and the real thing! :nana:

Colleen, oh the cleaning stuff. I didn't think about that. That sounds very likely. The previous one wasn't this kind of material, so perhaps it didn't keep the smell the same way.

On the soft plastics, they tend to use something aromatic. I think it's partially to cover the small of plastic and partially to assure you it's new :)

My experience is they stop having much of an oder after a few uses & washes. thus I am infering it's the cleaning matterials,

Silicon compunds -- like silicon based caulking or silicon potting (moulding) compound -- often give off an acetone (nail polish remover) smell as they cures. If not well ventilated while curing, the smell can stick around for quite a while.

It sounds like your new Vibe was boxed before the curing of the soft parts was fully complete or it was cured in an unventilated environment.

I would NOT use it while the smell persists!

Acetone is fine for the dead skin of your cuticles and callouses, but It's not a good thing to get on your mucous membranes -- even in the tiny trace mounts the are only detectible by smell.

Damn it all I knew i should have cleaned off my cum before I sent it to you.

Dip it in paint thinner. That'll fix the problem. Of course you'll have another problem.

:D

It takes a LOT of exposure unless your exceptionally sensitive to acetone, but If a silicon compound is not fully cured, there are some other nasty chemical possibilities involved as well -- I don't remember all of the chemical details that cause curing silicone compound to smell like acetone but I've have some unpleasant practical demonstrations that all of the chemcals involved are irritants to some degree or other.

Washing the toy with a good degreaser type dish detergent and then oiling it down with a mineral oil based product should take care of the smell and any trace of other chemicals....

This is what I just bought today. Not that exotic but realistic....if I remember correctly..

Mine smells like Bonne Bell Lip Smackers. I'm still not sure how I feel about this. ;)
