my humble act of rememberance.

A dot for each innocent killed as a result of New York's tragedy on 11.09.2001.

A period. In the grammatic sense, but also in the other definitions according to the Oxford English Dictionary:

period - n. 1. length or portion of time. 2. distinct portion of history, a person's life, etc. 7. complete sentence, especially one consisting of several clauses.

One period that, like in grammar, gives you cause to stop and reflect on what you've just read. Before moving on again.

One period for each innocent life.

7000 in all.

Over 3000 innocents from 83 countries in New York and roughly 4000 innocents whose lives were extinguished in Afghanistan over the past year.

Having recently returned from Afghanistan, where I shot a documentary about de-mining crews, I became aware that the tragedy continues. And each loss of life is as poignant and heart-wrenching as the one before it. No one has a monopoly on grief. No one life is less valuable than another.

Today I remember them all.

I agree! Rather than get off his ass and do something productive, Cool is going to park his butt in a chair, type 7000 dots, and beat us over the head with his morally bankrupt, intellectually vacant and woefully out-dated brand of socialism. Cool, go sell crazy somewhere else.....we're all stocked up here.

I am going to work, then to Church, and then to meet some friends at a Pub.... I just don't get people that sit behind a computer and pine away 24/7 about this and that, and then try to tell me how to live a life.... Get Real!!!]

Cool lives in a country that just opened its doors to the Germans in 1940.... and then complained they were there for 5 years. Denmark was occupied in 15 minutes... He would have us do the same.

It is really very, very sad indeed.

Is seeing one man's expression of grief be torn apart instead of embraced by another.

I agree that every life is equally important. Which means you left out a number of dots... for the tens of thousands of Afghans who died at the hands of the Taliban. They matter too -- and there is no moral equivalence here.

Remembrance of the dead shouldn't be a time of griping....it should be a time of remembering the how those people touched the lives of others with meaning and love.

I think a lot of thought went into this thread, and the sentiment was genuine. Everyone has been affected, let us join as one people. No matter what our differences and remember the way we want to. Let us not turn against each other but truly remember how lucky we are to be here and the tragedy of the innocents who have passed away and their friends and family who mourn their loss.

United we stand, divided we fall.
God bless us all, especially America today.
