It's a meaningless milestone that may be gone tomorrow, but one of my stories just popped the 4.5 barrier for the first time (well, one's been at 4.67 for ages but only has 3 votes) so...

/me pops champagne.

Congrats. But, of course, mentioning it on the forum is the quickest way to lose it.

It's an awesome feeling isn't it. Congrats, now start on the next one! No resting on those laurels!

Great work, Ekstatikoi! It's a great feeling to see that 'H' pop up, isn't it? :)

Hey, congratulations! I've seen some groups of voters in certain categories in the stories forum are more fickle or picky than most, with some being very much so and others not so much. What category are you in? I hope you will have many more and in a such a way find your groove. :)

I hope just because you post a first accomplishment for you that people from the forum don't go out and and start asking others to rate down said story. That would be terrible, but I have seen it happen in the last 2 days although to my knowledge the flaming war going on didn't come into the forum.

One thing I'll say to you: you've already received advice not to get complacent and that's perfect; the other is *never* get upset with posters genuinely giving you real, constructive criticism; you can always tell flaming or a non-constructive one, for if someone says "you suck," but offers no reason why then that's baseless (and either ad hominem or genetic fallacy take your pick) then you can discard it or outright delete it from your comment space if it attacks another user or you unjustly. However, if you get a comment that says, "this is great because x character did x, y and z although character a needs work because we always see him/her happy but we never have a backstory as to why--maybe the person has terminal cancer and is just thrilled to be alive? Explain why, at least enough to show readers the 'why' behind this attitude," then that's constructive and trying to help you hone something you missed.

Once again, great job and may you have many more. :D

Congrats. The first is always special. You'll have more. Just keep at it. And if that one disappears, The next one will stay. Just keep writing.
