The real meaning of the all hallowed red H

Well, mother-son anything sells better than the best stories in really niche themes. It's just the law of numbers.

I'm not an expert when it comes to incest stories, but when it comes to femdom stories, I've actually had an opportunity to browse many of the stories posted on Amazon. And when I say browse, I mean actually read them, not just look at previews. They are generally really bad. And I mean the story that's being told is usually terrible. Honestly, I'd say that the best Lit femdom stories are head and shoulders above most Amazon stuff. And it makes sense to me.

But those Amazon stories sell, clearly.

I've never read it but I've been told that Fifty Shades of Grey for all it's popularity is virtually unreadable due to the bad writing.

Actually, my mom is one of the people that told me that. Insert [ick] here but whatever.

It's about as good as the average piece you'd find in the 30-day toplist, and I'm not sure which party would be more insulted by that comparison. Probably the folks on Lit.

I wanted to expand on why this makes sense to me.

Stories on Lit are written mostly by amateurs, true. But they are also usually a product of true enthusiasm. Lit authors write their own kinks most of the time, and the fantasies they write are usually something they thought about for a long, long time. The stories simmered in their brains for years before they ever thought of putting them to paper. They understand and love those kinks, and most readers can see that.

On the other hand, many of the Amazon stories (not all, obviously) are written for the market. They hit on specific kinks, are usually short, but most of all, they are generic and predictable as fuck. They are often soulless.
Yet they still sell.
