Wildcard, you're right. That seems to be one of the issues of the haters. That and the sanctity of marriage thing. Makes me wonder if their spouses know they're cruising porn sites.

I had one negative response in my public comments that the author actually signed, and I respect that. I think he's wrong, but I respect that he had the guts to sign his comment. I gave him a nice and friendly response.

Congrats, Boota, and welcome to the club. If you want to get hate mail, the LW catgory is the one, but you will also get it in gay or lesbian categories and sometimes others.

If you want to get some good hate mail, do an inter racial story, and be sure that she's married.

I was re-reading an old Stephen King story where one character describes another, as what his father would refer to as a "beefy sonofawhore" and laffed my ass off about it.

But yea, I guess a person who's mother was a lowlife cheating whoremother they might be a lil sensitive about the subject. After all, its the holidays and he prolly can't figure out what to buy a whore for christmas, especially a whore who is his mother.

I liked a cartoon I saw where santy clause is on trial in a courtroom. The attorney for the woman chargin santy clause tells the judge that "not once your honor, but three times he called my client a ho."

Maybe I'm assigning a level of intelligence to them they do not possess.

Wildcard, I'm working out ideas for a novel that involves some interracial elements in it, but it's not for Lit, so I don't expect to get too beat up about it.

Lisa, I've seen that cartoon. I like it. LOL. I think it was on a greeting card when I saw it.

TE, I think the reason they read those stories is that they are masochists. They are turned on by reliving their old humiliations from being cheated on, but they haven't the words to adequately express what they're feeling, so they attack the writer. And even crazier, they attack the fictional characters. It has to be confusing, trying to live inside their heads.

I believe that people who have these issues, like the ones displayed in some of this incredibly hostile feedback we all get, are the kind of people responsible for a lot of sex crimes. That kind of repression often leads to things like that.

Everybody on AH has wondered this same thing. If a story is about gay men, and somebody dislikes hearing about gay men, why does he read the story. You could say the same thing about lesbians, BDSM or other categories. In all honesty, somebody new might see the category "Loving Wives" and say something like "Oh, good, stories about loving and faithful wives." Of course, he soon finds out differently and complains. The other categories, though, are very clear what they are about.

Maybe we're functioning in a small way as a bit of a safety valve.

Better the psychosexually disturbed little trolls bitch at us than go out and harm some innocent person.
