Have 22 songs and are 67 minutes long. I'm really rather proud of them, but I have a few questions concerning some file names. Er, I stole the music off the net and am burning my own CDs. Anybody got a problem with this? Very well then.

Here is my compilation in the exact order they appear:

1) DON HENLEY - "Please Come Home for Christmas"
2) BRENDA LEE - "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"
3) PORKY THE PIG - "Blue Christmas"
4) JOHN MELLENCAMP - "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"
5) ELVIS PRESLEY - "Merry Christmas, Baby"
6) BOBBY HELMS - "Jingle Bell Rock"
7) U2 - "Baby, Please Come Home"
8) MARIAH CAREY - "All I Want For Christmas Is You"
9) HARRY CONNICK, JR. - "Musta Been Ol' Santa Claus"
10) MADONNA - "Santa Baby"
11) ELVIS PRESLEY - "Here Comes Santa Claus"
12) CARPENTERS - "Merry Christmas, Darling"
13) BING CROSBY - "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town"
14) ???? - "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch"
15) FAITH HILL - "The Christmas Song"
16) DAVE MATTHEWS BAND - "The Christmas Song" ???
17) WEIRD AL YANKOVIC - "The 12 Pains of Christmas"
18) X-RATED XMAS - "Frosty the Pervert"
19) X-RATED XMAS - "Suck On My Cock"
20) X-RATED XMAS - "Have a Pornographic Christmas"
21) JOHN LENNON - "So This Is Christmas"
22) JUDY GARLAND - "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"

Whew, my fingers need a break.

Okay. Here are my questions...

Mel Blanc has been dead for years, right? The Porky the Pig song says it's by him but it sounds like a Mel Blanc impersonator in a bar with a bunch of women cackling in the background. Think I'll just leave out his name, what do you think?

Is it THE Carpenters or just Carpenters? That song is so depressing, btw. I just had to include it because her voice is like that of an angel *sigh*.

Who sings the Grinch song? My file only says 'Christmas' and then the title. Hmmmm... I looked up the lyrics and it just says Dr. Seuss as the author.

You've all heard the "12 Pains of Christmas" - right? That's deffo not Weird Al Yankovic or did he write/produce it? Not trying to be analistic about all this, but I would like to be a bit accurate with the CD flaps.

I was going to end the CD with my personal fave, John Lennon's song, but since I still had time left I added Judy Garland's OTHER depressing song. Gives it a nice raw, emotional touch especially since it's old and scratchy.

Oh, one more thing - notice how Faith Hill's song is back to back with DMB's "The Christmas Song" ? Hmmph, they aren't even the same songs but have the same titles. I really hate stealing music from people who can't get their shit right!

id go with Johns song

listened to that a while ago

(dont forget the Charlie Brown soundtrack-Shroeder rules)

Nice choices!

I think I will do one just like you.

As for the the Christmas songs with the title "The Christmas Song", band do them and just titled them "The Christmas Song" and its not related to the original Christmas Song.

whew I nearly lost myself!

O! yes! Vince! S'all I need.

Thanks, but I need help with the proper titles so I can print out the CD covers and send these babies off before the Post Office closes. I'd love advice on more songs, but I can't change the ones I've already burned.

Mel Blanc died in 1989.

The Grinch song is sung by Thurl Ravenscroft, who is also the voice of Tony The Tiger.

The Whirling Dervishes
Or, depending on your version, Boris Karloff. Actually, I'd go with Boris. He did the voice over for the 1966 version.

So the winner is . . . Thurl Ravenscroft! Hrm, I like Whirling Dervishes better.

Any chance the Faith Hill Christmas Song is Where Are You Christmas? I haven't heard it, so I don't know what you're talking about here. But a search for "faith hill christmas" turned up this single for the Grinch soundtrack.

Okay, thanks to Mischka and Q for helping. I'm putting Thurl Ravenscroft for the title to the Grinch song and Miscka gave me the idea to simply put TWISTED CHRISTMAS as the title to the 12 Pains of Xmas. Besides, unless I make the font size much smaller, the Bobby Rivers stuff won't even fit.

Btw, what's this about John's song? John Lennon or Elton John? Or the one I already have? I'm confused.

Thanks!

I also altered DMB's song to "The Other Christmas Song" and will risk the chance of them taking me to court. heh.

Sigh, first drafts look good but now I have to start cutting and folding them and wrap them up real fast!

Thanks for all the help!!!!!

*Bump*

For anyone making your own holiday CDs - here are some helpful song-snagging ideas!

This year I'm re-doing my rotation so that the Porky the Pig song is down near the adult XXX section and I'd really rather the CD end with John Lennon's song and not the scratchy Judy Garland tune. Just that I had extra time and thought, eh, why not. However, it's just too sad and my all-time fave (Lennon's song) should go last. Ixnay on Garland this year.

Man, was I ever full of exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!! in this thread.

and...

The Smashing Pumpkins "Christmas time"

Oh jeez... they even have some Christmas songs? Let me guess, even Veruca Salt (another Chicago band) has some I need to scrape up - so many to choose from...

This might have been answered already, as I didn't read the whole thread, but I got Bob Rivers doing Porky Pig - Blue Christmas.

I'll find the grinch for you in a bit.

:)

Plus you really gotta get Rolf Harris - 6 white boomers. No homemade Chritsmas CD is complete without it.
