Seriously. The damn thing just does weird random things for no reason. Last night Paintshop disappeared. I click on Paint and it tells me the drive or network connection is unavailble. Today I lost Microsoft works...just for no damn reason. My programs just up and ran away! I try to access works or my works files and I get error messages...Anybody else have possessed computers that do crazy shit like this? I'm seriously stressing.

Mine tends to reboot itself for no apparent fucking reason when I am online...I have no idea why.

Do you have an up to date virus scanner?

This computer was my ex husband's and I got it in the divorce...I don't know much about it. He never had a virus scanner on it as far as I know and I haven't gotten around to adding one, so the anwser to that question would be "no."

When was the last time you ran Scandisk and then defragged that puppy?

Sounds more like your typical gremlin infestation than your standard full-blown demon possesed 'puter to me. When it connects itself to the net and starts ordering parts upgrades using you credit card THEN you have demons to contend with. :)

It smells FEAR.

I just busted mine. It felt good. When they become rabid and then sense fear, they must be killed, you know that.

Click here and click on the anti-virus check and let it do that and see what the results come up with.

That explains the demontic possecion....but seriously they are right try defrag and virus scan there is a good one online and its free.....http://housecall.antivirus.com/start.pcc.asp
:nana:

I'm trying the virus scan now..I already tried defragging. My ex husband and I have had this computer for 3 years and never defragged it (My b/f nearly shit when I told him it had never been defragged...I didn't even know what defragging was!) But I tried to defrag it last nigh and every time I try it gets up to 86 percent complete then says "drive contents changed" and starts all over again...It did this all last night and all day today. I don't know what the hell is wrong with this sick psychotic computer.

Run Scandisk BEFORE you run defrag. If there are damaged clusters on the drive it'll choke on them over and over again. Scandisk will remove the damaged bits of data for you.

Another free virus scanner is AVG which you can download from http://www.grisoft.com

Also doing defrag and scandisk, make sure NOTHING else is on. Hit ctrl+alt+del and exit out ALL the programs except for Explorer and Systray. Then do scandisk first then defrag.
