All of us have a classic car in mind that we would like to get if we could. I have to admit my ignorance for some off-brand European classic cars, other than Triumph/Porsche/Mercedes/Austin/Ferrari/Lambourgini, and MG. I'm sure my Euro kin will enlighten me on some truly classic European machines.

What's your favorite classic car? And why?

My favorite classic is a muscle car, a 1970 Dodge Challenger with a 440 CID, and a 4-speed pistol shifter.

(This is the first one that comes to mind, I'm sure there's more that could come to mind) :D

Tough to pick one, the list includes:

1970 Buick GSX
1987 Buick GNX
1969 Chevy El Camino
Early '70s Hurst Olds

Daimler Majestic Major . . .

My delight used to be a 1963 Daimler Majestic Major, 4.6 l V8 aluminium head powerhouse sports saloon, capable of 116mph, designed to cruise at 80mph @ 3200rpm, idled at 400rpm, the last of the true Daimlers before they were taken over by Jaguar.

A doctor mate had a Shelby Cobra, a delightfully deceptive little powerhouse, tied together and responsive as hell. Think it had a BIG V8 . . . was it a Chev 353 perhaps? . . .

BUt I think I passed up the opportunity to own the real dream car . . . a 1964 DB4 Aston Martin . . . 7.2L of controlled power and unlimited speed . . . yet handled like a lamb . . . :)

anything by BMW between 1970-1972.
Preferably an Alpin or 2002.

I've dreamed of two over the years. One I recently sold, the other will probably stay beyond my reach unless I win "power ball" or something.

The first was a 1963 Studebaker Avanti. Fun, lots of fun.

The second would be a 1968 Shelby King Cobra. Assume. I still remember the ads in the magazines to this day. A black and white picture of the automobile in side view parked. The caption read;

"0 - 100 - 0, 13 seconds."

Aw SIN . . . all us farm boys just gotta have a truck . . . mines done over 300,000 miles . . .

that's a tough question. i grew up with so many great cars around that it's hard to pick but here's a short list.

1965 gto convertable
1962 corvette convertable
1965 camero
1958 chevy convertable

and if i could have one car back that i've owned it would be my old 1956 packard super clipper. man, what a car and what memories.

excuse the intrusion into the "man territory"

but I'm kinda partial to my '70 mach 1 Ford Mustang

:D

Special ordered in Oct 1963, 1964 Corvair Spyder coupe (163 ci--163 hp Turbocharged) with 4 speed manual, yellow/black interior, wire wheel covers, radio, seat belts, rally suspension, Red Line Uni-Royal "Tiger Paws".......$3400!!

A "mouse that would roar".........viva la 'boost'!!

Wish I had it back now.

I'll join with you and Ish on the Cobra!

The original 5 or 6 had Ford 260 cid's, quickly followed with a production model with a Ford 289. They were known as FIA or "slab side" Cobras. In about 1966 Shelby wedged the Ford 427 FE "Side oiler" engine into one and the 427 S/C was born! The 427 was a NASCAR racing block and the "King Cobra" was known as the "bad news in Ferrari's rear view mirror"!

Here is a car from a great site known as Cobra Country.

Most for sale now are "kit cars", but some of the better kits are actually better cars than the original AC Greyhound converted by Shelby. Original Shelby's now run toward $500,000 US!

Hey Rhumb, an original 427 s/c just went across the auction blocks at slightly over $1 Million!!!!!!

1967 Cougar Convertable with 460PI with c6 transmission.

I'm a fan of old iron, early '50s Caddys. There's one out there named Marilyn, she's a custom convertible with white leather interior. The stuff dreams are made of :)

Was that the one that was "lost" in a garage for years and had a contested ownership?

Check out the Kirkham Cobra made (assembled) in Utah. They have a Polish fighter factory making aluminum bodies that far surpass the original AC bodies for quality.

I'm a kit car kinda' guy...ERA some day! I just can't justify $50,000 for a "toy"!!

Rhumb:rolleyes:

1971 Jaguar E-type V12 5.3l, racing green
1956 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing V6 3.0l, silver
1930 Packard Victoria Convertible S8, metallic-gold/brown

1967 (one year only model) VW Karmann Ghia. Closely related to the Corvair and the Volvo 1800.

And I have on one in the garage,

I have an affinity for the 64 1/2 Mustang. Quite yummy memories.

I'm using my graduation bonus to get Mr. Mischka a muscle car to fix up. Haven't decided on the model yet, but it'll be fun picking one out. Probably Camero or GTO.

For me personally, I adore the late 1940s sedans. Style and grace simply exudes from those cars.

This is a beauty, driving in style.

I have a soft spot in my heart for big, fat, old Cadillacs with large breasts...
