Okey, so I got 6 paddles for my birthday. My subbie made them for me. I was thinking on choosing one for punishment only. Subbie had the idea to put a poll as to which one the community here on lit would think was the best for this purpose. Just in case the pic doesn't turn out the colors in order are:
1. Golden Oak
2. Colonial Maple
3. Vermont Maple
4. Dark Mohogany
5. Silver
6. Black

Limitations seem unecessary in this case, thus I would base the decision souly on your mood and submissive's attitude. To achieve this, simply match the paddle with the color you intend to make his/her flesh at the time. For example, "fetch me the mohogany or black paddle" would have more of a lasting 'impact' then "fetch me the golden oak paddle."

Just because you are dominant is no excuse to clash.

P.S. I admire the craftsmanship. Quite "strapping" .

Mostly depends on the impact of the implement. If they are all the same material, then, maybe the finish would be how you decide. But, if the finish is the same, then like it has already been said, the color that fits your mood would be the way to go.

What I mean by material, if the silver is made of metal, that would be the one I'd choose. Or, if the black one is metal, maybe. But, if they are all wood and just painted silver and black, then, the one made of the hardest wood, with the smoothest finish would be my choice. And, because they all look well done, that might be the same, too. Oak is hard...was one made of oak?

What I mean by finish, the smoothest, most glossy finish will make the most smack. After a certain point it's only in the mind, but if you want a good smack from your paddle, a nice hard wood, smooth sanded and nice hard varnish is the way to go.

So, from the looks of the picture, I'd say you can use any of them, and go with your mood at the time. They all look quite usable to me.

DVS- We'll have to wait for TS to reply to be sure, but I'm betting all are wood. Dragon made them all, and they all look identical.

Maybe if TS does choose only one, she should write "PUNISHMENT" on it... Or maybe "naughty" on one side and "dragon" on the other.

OR perhaps even take a router to them, if they are wood, and etch out "naughty" backwards so that it stands out in relief form the reddened skin.

Jut for everyone's information: the colors are stains/paint. My loving dragon got the 5gal paint stir sticks and sanded them smooth, then painted them. They do need a nice hard varnish to complete them. I'm thinking a trip to WestMarine is in order. I know marine varnish is hard, and that's what all the "DIYPerv" sites say to use. We actually had someone PM us in regards to selling them. Draggie said he would if the individual were really interested, though we feel considering the matierials used in construction it would be wrong to sell them without first telling said individual the materials and process.

Well, yes, a good varnish is needed. Something tells me that when your sub makes implements for pain, it is possible those implements might not be that painful.

Now, if he was instructed to make them "ass worthy", which if they were presents, they might be more for show than for "vigorous" use...even ornamental.

No, only kidding, here. They look quite nice as they are, but I do think a nice hard varnish will not only help preserve them, it will also help strengthen them, so when used, they will deliver the "affection" the user requires.

As for putting words on these paddles, that should be done before the varnish, of course. But, using a router in this case is probably not a good idea, as these are not very thick. But, I do like the idea of routing the word "naughty" into a paddle backwards, so it leaves an impression on the target ass. That would be a very nice touch, on a thicker paddle.

EDITED TO ADD:
You know, if either of you are artistic, a dragon with a pout would be good on one of those lighter stained paddles.

Or, just the words..."I've been a baaaaaaaaaaaad dragon" filling the length of the paddle.

Or, "I might be a fire breathing dragon, but my butt is gonna be on fire, soon"
