I now believe that the best birthday presents are not he ones that you receive but the ones that you buy and share with those that you love. For my 58th birthday, I flew me and my daughter to Nyc, rented a suite in a lovely hotel and had a helluva time with my son, whose birthday is one day after mine. We had a wonderful time together!!
My wife, dr. blue, did not join me, knowing how much I wanted to be alone with my children. That was her gift to me. That's how I know she loves me.
Yesterday, my children and I and 2 of their friends had brunch in Tribeca. Afterwards, we walked to where the World Trade Centers used to stand. It was a very sobering moment. I stood there looking at the mangled steel and the broken buildings and I hugged my children.
