You are correct, but everybody knows what the term means. That minds me: is the term for what the woman is doing a "hand job" while the man is giving a "finger fuck?" Or could a woman receive a hand job? It's the same thing, just a different way to describe it. In the 1950s, I suppose the term "heavy petting" would be used for both genders.
So if two people are merely watching each other masturbate, that's all that needs to be said I guess. I mean, is there a specific word for that?

You have to wonder how many of those letters were, not exactly fake, but rather pieces of fiction disguised as real events. Well, I guess that is fake. It strikes me that not many men would do that exclusively with a woman they weren't also banging. Well, maybe they would so if the sessions were just a side activity and they had other, "real" partners.
