Aides to Elon Musk charged with running the U.S. government human resources agency have locked career civil servants out of computer systems that contain the personal data of millions of federal employees, according to two agency officials.

The systems include a vast database called Enterprise Human Resources Integration, which contains dates of birth, Social Security numbers, appraisals, home addresses, pay grades and length of service of government workers, the officials said.
"We have no visibility into what they are doing with the computer and data systems," one of the officials said. "That is creating great concern. There is no oversight. It creates real cybersecurity and hacking implications."
Sofabeds installed, doors locked. Staff excluded. Private employees taking over functions of government by force.

LOL. A fast move to prevent sabotage by the Deep State.

Data Security? Sources Tell Reuters That DOGE Locked Gov't Employees Out of HR Data Systems

The reasons for this are unclear, but it appears that on Friday, aides to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) point man Elon Musk apparently locked a significant number of federal government employees at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) out of their work computer networks, according to anonymous sources in an exclusive story from Reuters: The OPM, on the day Pres. Trump was inaugurated, came under the control of a cadre of former Musk employees, the Reuters piece continued. If you're going to reduce the government workforce, OPM would seem to be where you would start - and some federal workers nearing retirement are already getting buyout proposals. This act has the hallmarks of a corporation downsizing, in fact, but then, cutting the fat out of the federal Colossus is one of the things Donald Trump ran on.

As of this writing, neither Musk nor anyone from the Trump administration has made any statement about this action or why it was taken. In corporate downsizing, it's not an uncommon step to restrict employees' access to data before informing them they are about to be sent to the wonderful world of unemployment, although there's no way of knowing if that's what is going on here. Add to that the fact that this is highly sensitive data, including personal and professional information, and security becomes a major concern. The team Musk has moved in are some of his key people who have worked with him on other takeovers, buyouts and reshaping business, including Twitter.

This seems like a great start, preventing guerilla action by Deep State holdouts.

The conflicts of interests are real with this one.

Info on DOGE, Musk Ethics Conflicts Demanded to Avoid Litigation

The Center also submitted multiple Freedom of Information Act requests to shed light on the workings of DOGE and its compliance with federal conflict of interest laws. The Center intends to bring litigation should the Office of Management and Budget fail to respond in two weeks.

“It’s quickly becoming clear that Elon Musk’s DOGE enterprise will be the nexus of graft, corruption and self-enrichment within the Trump administration,” said Kierán Suckling, the Center’s executive director. “With Musk, crypto bros and who knows how many other billionaires lurking in the White House, it’s vital that the public finds out which environmental and human health safeguards they’re gunning for to enrich their businesses and themselves.”

any questions?

good for MUSK and America
Quoting the criminal as defense for his criminality is not to be taken at face value.

This is the real coup against the American Constitution is right now. People without security clearance barricading themselves into secure areas and locking out people with serious jobs. Plugging in their own hard drives brought in from external locations, seriously?????

I was skeptical of DOGE when it was initially announced. Thought it was going to be yet another advisory panel with no authority. Trump has codified the role via EO. If the anonymous sources who spoke to Reuters are real, the bureaucrats are really feeling it. Good article in today’s WSJ about the roles of Musk and OMB chief Vought. They might actually achieve cutting some fat.

I'm guessing that the first priority is to establish a data link to Musk's artificial intelligence LLM at Twitter, which has been plagued by lack of learning progress and as a result lagged far behind OpenAI/Microsoft (ChatGPT), Apple AI, and Meta AI.

We're edging perilously close to the events of 1983's "WAR GAMES".

More than 1,000 EPA employees are told they could be dismissed immediately

Damn, they missed the week where they could have collected a check till Sept. 30.

I hope your employer treats you better than you want to treat others

"At Will". is why they are expendable.
Employed to perpetrate a hoax is the real reason they will go. And many others that are not probationary. Spending tax dollars on make believe is done.

Funny how "the email lady" represented the Gravest Constitutional Threat Of Our Lifetime just 8 years ago, and now Elon hosts sleepover hack-a-thons for callow 20-something incels at major federal buildings. What a difference a Republican House 'n Senate, along with a 6-3 Supreme Court majority make!

Your opinion on how other people do their job without an understanding of the job they do is something you feel important to you to express.

I hope that people can value your position without someone telling you why you suck.
