As with all fakes...people will ultimately see Elon for what he is...a second rate grifter. He does the same thing with Tesla stock...come out say something stupid...the stock drops $10-20 per share...he buys it up....them sells it off at a higher price when he backs out of what he said he would do

musk files today to terminate twitter buyout

As Twitter has been on notice of its breach since at least June 6, 2022, any cure period afforded to Twitter under the Merger Agreement has now lapsed. Accordingly, Mr. Musk hereby exercises X Holdings I, Inc.’s right to terminate the Merger Agreement and abandon the transaction contemplated thereby, and this letter constitutes formal notice of X Holding I, Inc.’s termination of the Merger Agreement pursuant to Section 8.1(d)(i) thereof.

twitter has the right to pursue it in court, with the intent on making musk keep to the agreement and buy twitter of $44B

i'd say 'fuck him', they'll be better off without him.

According to Twitter users he is still on the hook for 1 billion $.

Watching the Musk vs Twitter feud is like watching two hookers fighting over a street corner. There's no good guys, there's no heroes, there's no one to cheer for, and when it's all over it ain't going to make a shit's worth of difference anyway.

As both sides prepare for a lengthy court battle, some Twitter influencers are floating an alternate theory for the change of heart: The bots were never the problem, merely a vehicle through which to covertly sell Tesla options that were about to expire.
if the thinking in this article is true (and i can't say either way), he's managed to liquidate $8.5 B of about-to-expire Tesla stocks with a 'good excuse' meaning no kinds of investigations into that, selling at a great price and even after the $1B hit still walks away over $7B richer

how does this theory stack up after court costs and such? just another game of bluff with a poker face?

twitter's hired the big hitters

i somehow doubt they can force the sale, and the Delaware Chancery Court cannot make rules on punitive payments but they are well-versed in these top dollar merger problems. Things normally end up, according to this report, with a settlement. Guess Twitter intends to make musk pay more than the billion he's arguing against having to pay at all.

Musk is the only one smelling bad in this. It makes all the difference because he was the one who needed Twitter's voice to leverage his own bullshit.

His own bullshit ran his own ass out of the picture and Twitter remains Twitter, about to get a billion clams in their pocket to play with.

There was no mission statement for a greater good here. With all his disposable resources, why didn't Musk just create his own social network? This is the difference between actual innovators versus fuckbois running off their parents' money.

Tesla is not doing good. All Musk is actually known for now is being a showboating prick with money to burn on stunts and siring a bunch of whelps out of wedlock. His brother Kimbal is a far a better businessman than he is.

He screwed them. Twitter needed Musk more than Musk needed Twitter. Its too bad the deal isn’t going to materialize. Less censorship and more transparency would have been great. Instead, the company is in dire straits. The rats are jumping ship, morale is low, ad revenue is shrinking, and the stock is tanking. A prolonged legal battle isn’t going to save them. No tears for Twitter.

I was told that nobody uses Twitter anymore...so it's cool

Though strange enough..those same people post from Twitter sources all the time.

I'm sure it's nothing

They're set to take a billi dip into his wallet without ever having him do anything. Who "needs" him?

Even the Saudis told Musk to kick rocks and he thought they were his buds on this.

If this was the main issue, then why is Truth Social cratering? Isn't that exactly why it was made?

What a stupid comment. Truth Social was established by Trump, for Trump. It has no user base and no revenue. It’s nothing but vapor.

Twitter has users and revenues. Not enough to sustain itself, but at least enough to give investors a glimmer of hope that the sinking ship could be salvaged with better management decisions. Shareholders would have benefited significantly from Musk’s offer. Instead, their shares are in a free fall. The billion dollars Musk is on the hook for won’t save the company.

Zumi and Butters don’t have a pinch of business acumen between them.

But they “know” why the richest man in the world, Canadian Elon Musk, is “failing” .

Funny or just sad?

I prefer to laugh at them. :)

Agree, they are wonderful sources of laughter

All those pub IT brains working on an alternative

Canadian Elon Musk failed to acquire Twitter.

that's what I know.

maybe broke Verne Troyer above me needs to eat some more strawberry shortcake while stroking himself to a tired nut muttering "Butters...Butters...Butters...buh-buh-Buuuuuuuttttterrrrkksksksks"

No, the reason why Truth Social was created was to provide an alternative to what conservatives were griping about over Twitter.

that's outside of whatever Cheeto's bullshit and the schnooks that follow him continues to drive. You said, "Less censorship and more transparency would have been great."

was that the reason for acquisition? how does the world's richest man fail to do that?

you had all of that reason in Truth Social. Twitter will likely still be around next year and the year after that. and Elon will still be playing jackass on Twitter while Tesla keeps immolating.

Trump left Truth Social board not long before it got hit with an SEC subpoena, filing shows

https://www.businessinsider.com/don...al-board-before-subpoenas-filing-shows-2022-7

Former President Donald Trump left the board of his social media firm, Truth Social, weeks before it was served with a federal subpoena, records show.

According to a June 8 filing with the Florida Department of State's Division of Corporations, Trump was removed from his position as chairman of the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG).

He was one of several departures along with his son, Donald Trump Jr., and other members Wes Moss, Kashyap Patel, Andrew Northwall, and Scott Glabe.

The departures were first reported Thursday by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

TMTG is the parent company of Truth Social, the social-media platform Trump launched after he was banned from mainstream social media following the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

But Truth Social pushed back against reports on the filing in a statement, claiming that Trump was still serving on the board as its chairman.

Its statement suggested the reports were based a misunderstanding of the document, but did not elaborate. Truth Social did not immediately respond to a request from Insider for more explanation.

TMTG is currently in the process of being acquired by Digital World Acquisition Corp, a SPAC .

The deal is under close regulatory scrutiny from both the Securities and Exchange Commission and a Manhattan Grand Jury.

The June 8 document describing departures from the board came before a flurry of legal activity around the acquisition.

Digital World first told investors on June 13 the merger was the subject of an investigation by the SEC.

It later revealed its board members had received subpoenas from a grand jury on June 16, according to a regulatory filing published on June 24. The same filing added that Digital World had also received a subpoena on June 24.

Digital World then disclosed in a July 1 filing the SEC had issued TMTG with a subpoena on June 27. The same filing said the grand jury issued TMTG with a subpoena on June 30.

If Donald Trump has indeed left the board, he's not the only high-level departure from Truth Social.

Trump started Truth Social to promote himself. Conservatives did not sign up except for perhaps a few hundred of his most devout supporters. It’s going nowhere. Musk’s aborted effort to acquire Twitter has left the struggling company reeling. He might have delivered the fatal blow. I don’t know if anyone can save Twitter or how long they can continue hemorrhaging cash and people. Maybe a year or two, idk. I shed no tears for Twitter, their employees, their shareholders, Trump, or Musk.
