Musicians

I tend to sing the blues only because I can do so well. I've done a good deal of jazz and such as well and because I married into it whenever we visit any of the Mrs' church going realatives gospel. (Also a random renza fact in highschool I was part of a rockish sort of band and I played the electric gutair. I also played lead bass sometimes depending.) write songs occasionaly too ;)

I wish we all could hear it.:)
I envy anyone that has the gift of music. Whether it be the sound of the human voice or the blending of instruments, it still amazes me how beautiful the sounds, especially in opera and a full orchestra.

~A~ thanks to all who have the gift and share it with us less fortunates with tin ears.:rose:

Yes, darlin' .. You sent me an mp3, remember?

Oh, and Abstruse - I am thankful every day for my ability to create and experience music. As a singer/songwriter, I can tell you that there is no better feeling in the world that someone coming up to you after a concert and saying "Your lyrics really touched me. You said exactly what I was trying to say."

That's very appealing, Bel. Thanks for your extensive response, and to the others who said more about what they play or sing.

Now, the first man who tells me he sings bass gets a full frontal of me ;) . A Russian bass (yes, it's distinctive) is my fave male voice. I knew only one personally, will never forget him, his voice, and the dangly bits :p .

feeling on top today, Perdita :)

When I was an angry teen I playedthe bass (badly) and then the drums (better) in an angry teen punk rock band that gained local notoriety by playng louder than everyone else.

My own singing is done mostly. The voice is a very unschooled midrange-somewhere one, but I use it as much as I can. It is definitely good enough for performing as troubadur or in musicals, something I've done most of my life too.

Most music of mine is done tinkering on a keyboard and programming sequencers and drum machines in my home studio though. I got a friend who sings a hell of a lot better than me, and together we've got a two man band together in the electronica/introspective alternative pop/blues/what have you genre. (The sample on Lauren's page is by my band.)

Ah, so you do that kind of stuff? What style do you do? I do everything from the hardcore spectrum to a little bit of hardstyle and hard trance. What about you?

Uh... Russian Bass here... bordering Basso profundo really. Could hit F#1 when I was in choir but I haven't been practicing so now I only get A1 now. Which is a pity.

Are you serious? I'm so happy (not that I can hear you). B-profundo is wonderful. What did you sing? the liturgy? Any Russian opera? Folk music? No big surprise but my fave voice is Nikolai Giurov (sp.?), do you know his work? Just buy any CD.

Perdita :) :rose:

Well I was in the high school choir and since there were only three guys in the choir I was forced to sing the tenor line down an octave since I could never sing high enough to hit even C4.

I now mostly stick using my voice for recording doomcore, terrorcore, ____core and maybe some deep dark trance or house.

Sorry, I don't get that. What? P.

I use it to help me write dark dark dance music. I produce electronic dance music.

X, Ok, thanks. I just like dancing in the dark. P. :)

Well of course it would be played in a dark room with blinking red strobe lights and black lights with the volume set to 11.

X, I meant the kind of dancing where people don't jump about much, just hold each other and move their feet in time to adage-tempo music, sometimes with corny romantic lyrics. Pretty old-fashioned stuff. P.

I knew what you were saying. I was just stating probably the only similarity that there was between our two styles that we liked. That and the cheesy lyrics, maybe.

The other end of that spectra, I guess. Down tempo, some house, acid jazz, spilling over into semi-mainstream jazzpop/funk/whatever. I really like trance music though, but I suck at making it. I don't think I have the dicipline for straight beats and a high tempo. :)
