murderers

I have been close to quite a few, but are we making distinctions between murder one, murder two, manslaughter. My younger years, I did live in what could be considered a high risk area.

one of my moms ex boyfriends (he kidnapped and killed a teen after a few years after they had separated.) still serving life to my knowledge.

Neighbor came home one day, shot the family dog, each kid as they came home from school, then finally himself, so the wife would come home from work and find their bodies.

best friend's younger brother was killed in a drive by, no idea for sure who the driver and shooter were, but I have a pretty good guess.

A good friend plead guilty to manslaughter at 15. A 15 year old female friend and him decided to steal her mothers car. she drove first and did fine, he drove 2nd and hit a telephone pole, killing her. He plead to manslaughter. Mother of the girl actually pushed for leniency, the kids were best friends their whole lives. He was in a juvenile detention center until 18, then on probation for 3 years, and since no issues on probation, they sealed his juvenile record.

A friend who got into a bar fight (it was a rough bar, fights between men were a regular thing), and the other guy died. The assault wasn't anything brutal, both were fighting, but good hit, down on a table wrong, and that is it. in the end, he also plead to manslaughter. Sentenced to 7, released in 3.

More recently, 3 years ago, one of my families closest friends, my husbands best friend, and a man who lived in my guest bedroom until 6 years ago, killed a woman in a very shocking turn of events, then a few days later killed himself. No one knows exactly why. I have a theory. A crime show production company just recently finished creating a show. I have what the new show name will be but at this point I have no idea if it will actually be picked up by a network. every other one the production company has done has been picked up by a networks somewhere though. They have made an introductory 3 episodes and he is one of them. I am hoping it gets picked up, because I want to see what their investigation found. The police closed the case after his suicide, so no motive was ever revealed. I hope they have a solid why or at least enough to confirm my theory.

Yeah, this.

And there's also the international terrorist who lives in my head, but that's a topic for another day . . . .

Does he whisper "whalla akbar..." in your ear at night?

Mine totally does.

#same, except I didn't grow up in the 70s. I think it's the area I'm from because other people are also weirded out by it and I learned to not bring it up. I think if you're from an area with a high murder rate you kinda get used to it but it's weird to people who aren't around that shit.

When candi and I agree....you know that shit is truth.

This.

I think it depends on how close to the razors edge you live/work/play. Some people take very little risk in their lives and have no idea how violent some members of society really are.

For others, it's just part of the daily routine.

It can be that way....I got my first taste of murderous violence at a young age in a church shooting, saw my good friend and boy scout mentor get blasted with an AK along with a few others. I was like 11...checking out the whole Jesus thing, not exactly what you'd call "the razors edge".

BUT that being said, I know what you mean about the live/work/play choices leading to more and often a lot of folks first exposure.

And yea....boggles my mind what bubbles some folks live in "Sure I live in Oakland, never lock my doors why would I? " fuckin serious as a heart attack I've had those words said to me.

I mean... it's not about taking risks.

You can be sitting on your ass playing Final Fantasy 7 and sometimes shit just happens. This mindset bothers me.

Well maybe you should quit trying to be such a narrow minded control freak...because sometimes it's about risky behavior.

The only murderer I've known directly or indirectly was here on Lit.

Ivan Denning Cales posted here on Lit as "IvanTheTerrible" and had post after post about wanting to kill his ex-wife. He never got around to it, but Ivan did manage to kill the woman who gave him a room to stay after he lost everything in his divorce.

He's now doing life in a New Mexico prison.

He had a crush on Funkenstein, if I recall correctly, which I presume was sufficient evidence of mental illness for him to avoid the death penalty.

I remember that, guy was a fucking weirdo even to us weirdos.

I knew a kid my freshman year of high school — wouldn't have really interacted with him at all except that our last names start with the same letter so we were in the same homeroom. After that first year, I imagine his parents moved him over to the local public school, thus depriving him of the moral guidance that the Catholic faith is renowned for worldwide.

A few years after this, he provided the gun as part of a "Hey, let's murder my husband" plot, which comprised four of the dimmest bulbs in Redneckia, Maryland. So he was charged with murder along the actual triggerman and the disgruntled wife. That's the closest thing I have to knowing a killer.

Right around the same time, I guy I knew slightly from my afterschool job (he worked a different shift) was murdered in what later came to be known as a drive-by. He was about as easygoing as it comes, so I have no idea who he pissed off or if was totally random or what. He was a young black man in Washington D.C., so it's not like it was going to get a lot of follow-up coverage.

That's creepy AF.
So what political affiliations did he have or was this before political, crossed swords pissing competition it is now?

He was a Democrat more than likely. He was a loser who property sat for people. He had mentioned that he would kill his ex here, then a few years later he was in the news. I trolled that fucker constantly.

So, quite a few of you interacted with him. Fascinating when you to stop to think about it, having insight into the mind of a killer, even if it was superficial. In retrospect I'm sure his posts must have been quite illuminating, if not downright disturbing. Or were they rather commonplace with occasional bipolar outbursts?
Either way, an unenviable experience not many can claim to have had.

Life in America means that very few are more than one step removed, thanks to the NRA.

Somewhere in America
A phone is about to ring.
Nothing can prepare you for the news it's about to bring
Nothing ever changes but the names and the faces.

I know a guy that killed his wife many years ago. He got away with it because the star witness backed out of testifying at the last minute so it never went to trail.
I know he did it and it still bothers me to this day.

My best friend from grade school was shot to death over a $150.00 worth of pot when he was 18. The murder was never solved. Blew his head off with a shotgun.

I don't remember him doing a lot of "interacting" here (I didn't know a thing about this until Rob's post). Like BotanyBoy said, his primary character traits were that he was eccentric and irritable, and he definitely gave off the aroma of someone whose posts were prompted by utter boredom and the consumption of certain beverages. And yeah, I know I just described 95% of the GB, but it stood out more 10 years ago.

I don't really remember his politics.

He did have incel vibes though so...*shrug*

The political pissing contests have been the hallmark of the GB since I got here in 08.

Correctemundo. House sitter by profession.

In fact, when Que started trolling here after being shown the door over at Author's Hangout, I thought he might be an Ivan alt...there were many similarities (50-ish loser, oh-so-sad divorce, months of couch surfing at friends places, the need to be an "alpha male", etc).

But there were some differences too: Ivan liked his women to be really big (Funkenstein, GracefullyYours, Cherry), while Que never went after anything over 30 or over 5'3" (owing to his 5 foot 6 inch height).

I figure we'll be hearing about one or more of the BB's eventually.

She wasn't a murderer when I asked her out. It would be almost two weeks before she would commit capital murder. Since she was a chick, they gave her life instead of death.

One acquaintance of mine was convicted of arson. They considered attempted murder charges but decided that since he was out of his mind on substances at the time, it was hard to show intent though there was no other reason to set the fire.

I don't deal with felons as much these days, but when I did, I wouldn't be surprised if several of them had been suspected of, if not charged with, violent crimes. Murder would not be out of the question.

Someone asked me today if Literotica's lady killer "Ivan the terrible" was out of prison yet. Nope, he's still doing "life plus three years" in New Mexico, state appeals court there heard two appeals and they turned both of them down.

While googling his name to make sure he hadn't gotten released on a technicality (or died), I found out that the cable show "Murder In The Heartland" did an episode on him back in 2017. He called himself "the Witch Hunter".

Did RaeRae, RocketBoi, CandiCrapper, 00000, pointless and a few others on this thread have a go at each other?
