Murder and Mayhem

Robert Summers:

"Yeah, I always wanted to rub elbows with Garfield..." Robert said dryly, the hint of a smirk crawling along the edges of his lips. "And it wasn't 'Babe's at the Beach...' It was 'BUXOM babes of BRIGHTON Beach...' yeesh..." He had always enjoyed nettling her, she had a way of always taking the bait.

Kara hugged Frank back tightly holding back the tears that threatened to fall. Back when they had been in highschool she had falled in love with Frank, she of course had put her feelings aside and done what any good friend would have done. Thats what their fight had been over that week before the murder. Over Frank and Kara's feelings for him. she had often thought to find him but she knew it would just cause her heartache. She knew he was interested in Cat and therefore and she stayed quiet holding it all in. She followed him out to Cat a smile pasted on her face. "hows your hand?"

April

As the door shut behind Kara and Frank, Angela stumbled out of the closet unconciously letting go of the boxes of toothpicks. Her lips trembled and her eyes full of tears as she struggled to organize the emotions and memories that were battling within her soul.
She sank to the floor gathering toothpicks in trembling hands as her tears began to flow.

Ten years ago
How many times had she lain in wait to peer at Angela in Frank's arms. His lips seeking hers hungrily as his hands roamed her body. How well she remembered how Angela would gasp as his hand found her breast or her moan as his lips nibbled and teased her neck. And, how April remembered seething with jealousy and anger as her sister made love to the boy/man she so longed for.
As quickly as the image of Frank and Angela assailed her senses, it was replace by yet another memory. Angela thought back to the day when she was in her room brooding, as she often did , about having to follow in Angela's shadow. Always being compared to Angela, April lacked Angela's beauty, wit and intelligence and was often found alone, writing in her journal.
On that day, she ran down the stairs at her mother's screams to find a police officer at the door and her mother collapsed in her father's arms. Her father shouting at the police officer and accusing him of lying.

"What's happening?" April shouted over her mother's wails.

Angela's father, in a strained voice that rose with every syllable said, "This asshole cop is trying to tell us Ange's dead! Fucking dead! Helluva fucking joke to play on folks like us!"

The "asshole cop" looked at Angela with warmth in his eyes and something else, perhaps a plea for help and understanding?

He said to April, "It is true honey. We found your sister's body today. It is true, I swear."

April said that first thing that came to mind, " Where's Frank? He did it, didn't he? I know he did."

As April tossed the toothpicks into the trash can, her next images were visions of the the funeral, the fruitless investigation and Frank's repeated claims of innocence. It was a time of chaos and confusion, emotionally strained by feelings of grief and anger, and her parent's drinking and fighting.

"No time for that!" , she said to the empty kitchen as she quickly wiped her face with a tissue, touched her hair and returned to the reunion. After all, she was responsible for the table settings and...she wanted to make sure she kept an eye on Frank.

Angus MacTaggert

Standing at the same place, half listening to the chit chat and dumb convesation of people around him, Angus just silently slid into his own little world.

Wait weren't there someone who actually wanted something from him??
Angus shrugged his shoulders.
Who the fuck cares anyway.

There were some faces he reconised ere and there. But not many. There was that Lucinda chick.....Jeez what a fucking bookworm she had been. She looked better today though, than she ever had back in school.
Looked like a true nosey bitch, asking everybody questions.

And There was Robert the pathetic chin chang chow hollywood wannabe...maybe I should teach him a thing or two about fighting, Angus thought to himself.
he wasn't much good back in High School, and that what his friends name was...Angus couldn't remember nor did he care. He only remembered how easy it was to knock the hell out of the both of them.
Remembering how Robert whatever-his-movie-manager-had-choosen-to-change-his-last-name-to had tried to help that pathetic little weasel.
It made Angus chuckle silently to himself

he shook his head, it was plainly obvious why people were here. Becasue of the cheerleading bitch murder ten years ago.

Angus snorted, these morons wouldn't know murder if it stabbed them in the back.
Angus knew it all too well, all too well.

Lucinda Li

Lucy rolled her eyes, "Robert... you do realise that Garfield is a fictional character... that means... un-real... kind of like your acting in that last movie..." there was a hint of a smile on her lips as if she were dying to laugh out loud but just wasn't going to let herself.

"Besides... I heard you were working at a bar now... what happened? Acting gig get too much for you?" Her delicately shaped eyebrow rising in question as she needled him right back.

Catherine, "Cat"

I watched as the blood flowed slowly. Frank brought it to his lips tenderly. I smiled. I knew he would be back. I wasn't about to lose him again. With a gaze, he left with Kara.

Then I spotted Rocky, that timid smile, and boyish charm had me smiling from ear to ear. I bit my lower lip in absolute pleasure in seeing him.

I smiled at his words, he hadn't changed, it was as if the clocks stood still...I gave him a hug in return.

I laughed with him, and we spoke a bit. "So Rocky, you are doing well.....looking devilishly handsome as always." I winked at him.

He blushed.

"I remember helping you with your homework, you were always good at math. " I smiled at him again.

That is when Frank returned. I hadn't noticed the pain nor the bleeding. I felt so stupid. I smiled at Rocky.

I grabbed a napkin from the table and wrapped it around the deep gash. I don't know what came over me.

I looked at Frank. I then looked at Kara.

Something. I don't know what.

At Frank's words of Rocky, I snapped back into reality. "Yeah," I smiled, "It has been a long time since we last spoke. Too long."

I smiled again at Rocky.

I looked at the first aid kit. That is when the overwhelming flash-back hit me.

***Sirens. Red. That sign of an ambulance. Blood. On me. On them. On who? Man? Maybe a woman. Running. A warning glance. Inferiority. Grief. Doubt. Accusations.***

When people found out tidbits and were beginning to notice Frank and I hanging around together. Gossip started. I was labeled as the murderer. Along with a dozen others. But I never could live it down. It seemed that my inferiority was my place in life. These sort of occurances were just best blamed on someone like me.

*Damnit....he thought.....somthing wasnt right, He was getting that old gut feeling again, an irking feeling that always put him on the razors edge, So He picked up a nearby cutting knife off of the cheese board and tested the edge...razor sharp......that was damned odd, no one ever sharpened the knives.....an attempt to impress? or somthing else.....he shook his head hard, and Examined it for just the reason of examining it, he needed somthing to take his mind off this feeling.......then he stopped and put it down. Lord knows he didnt need people accusing him of the murder....too many of them already had......even the police hadnt believed him....And only let him go when there was a complete lack of evidence...He shuddered at some of those old horrid memorys and brushed his hair back a tad too nervously...He carried around a gun for a reason, and extra bullets for the same.....He smoothed his hair and downed a martini, it burned his throat and sharpened his nerves....somthing way deep down inside told him he'd need every last bit of his intelligence tonight...for what? God only knew..*

Killer

The killer stood outside.

Watching people go into and out of the building. Eyeing each and everyone, choosing which to go after first.

Finnally he rest his eyes apon a former teacher of the school.

"Come to see all the kids agian, eh?", he said softly to himself. Making a slight run upto the teacher, the killer tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around, and said "Hello, where you one of my students?"
"Why, I think I was, didnt you teach computers?"
"Yes, yes I did."
The killer thinking quickly and swiftly, replied, "Well, is there by chance any way, I could get a small tour of the school? You know, to get the old feeling back agian?"
A little hesitent, the teacher responded, "Well, I dont really see a problem with that. We shouldnt be gone to long though. I mean, after all this is your class reunion. Dont want to miss any of the good stuff, no dont you?"
"Oh, no, not at all. I've a feeling things are about to become quite exciteing."

Walking down the hall, the former teacher was pointing out old high school memories, and what each room in the hallways used to be, or still was.
Walking by the pricipals office, they stopped.
"Mind if we go in there and take a look around?" the killer asked.
"Sure, dont see why not."
The killer let the teacher go in first. Walking behind the teacher, the killer pulled out the knife.
The knife was a long kitchen knife, an oversized carving knife.

"I'm sorry, but, I have to start somewhere." was all he said, and pushed the knife into the teachers back. A somewhat loud sream came out, before the killer could get his hand around the teachers mouth. Pulling the knife out, he stabbed agian, and again, and agian. Repeatedly, he did this, being careful not to get blood on himself. Finally the body went limp, and he let it fall.

Straightening his clothes, he left the pricnipals office, and returned outside, in search of the next.

Robert Summers

"Unrealistic huh? Still paid to go see them, though, didn't you?" Robert gave Lucinda a sly smile. "How'd you like the sex scene in my last one?" He chuckled and shook his head. "Too much for me? Um... No... Just hard to find movies worthy of my talent, thats all." He said as he looked at his finger nails then shot her a glance. "How'd you know about the bar anyway?" He was curious about that. Peeking over her shoulder, Robert saw Angus scoffing and gave him a 'whats up' nod of his head before returning his attention to Lucinda.

There was one thing Kara still lacked. Courage when it came to guys. She knew what her friends would say, "go for him Kara" or "how do you know he doesn't feel the same way" and of course she would say the same thing "I just can't" those words had left her lips all during highschool and most of her life. Now she thought the same words as she helped Cat bandage her hand. She knew Cat wasn't a bad person. She would be good for Frank, 'Better then I could' she thought silently. She would let Cat have him and keep her dignity.

Frank smiled as he watched everyone get along so well. It's like whatever happened ten years ago was forgotten, or maybe they had just set those feelings aside to have one last great party.
Frank cleaned up the glass easily, coming back to Kara and Catherine.
"I'm just going to go outside for a few minutes, and take care of this."
*ten minutes later*
A little winded Frank comes back ordering a drink. He sighs, taking a huge swig.
"Just had a little problem outside," he smiled. Kara and Catherine had waited for him. It was so sweet, he could see the love in both their eyes.
Something hit him.

Their eyes, all their eyes on him. Frank tried to meek throguh the rest of the week, but everyone always kept looking at him. He was the killer, he had done it, he killed Angela. No trial, no explanation, just instant judgement.... guilty.
The cops kept coming over to his house almost nightly. Asking more questions, but Frank thought they mostly came over to see if he would crack. They just wanted to put more pressure onto him. There's only so much a guy can take.
His family moved a week later, which caused more suspicion than ever. By that time, he was already pinned the killer, but he didn't care.

He smiled, looking down at Catherine's hand. It was nicely healed up now.
"That's a great job Kara," he smiled at both of them. Such lovely ladies, part of his trio of friends. The third one being Angela though. It was just two now.
"You know, I feel like dancing? Is anyone up for it?" His eyes scanned from one to the other.

Michelle

Watching everyone talk made her think of a time ten years ago when fitting in had meant everything. Her eyes roamed over Robert. He hadn't changed that much and Joe was still.....well Joe.

Her eyes moved over everyone else... barely noticing when Joe decided to exit in search of his cigarettes. She was barely paying attention to Lucy and Roberts conversation. Finally her eyes lit upon something interesting.

"Excuse me for a minute." She winked at Robert and started walking without waiting for an answer.

She saw Angus standing there. Now there was someone worth talking to. The bad boy from school. She wondered how bad he was now. A smile crossed her face. She needed some entertainment.

Cat

"Thank you." My voice soft and cool once again. I was gaining myself again, as in, my true self. No restrictions.

At the suggestion of a dance, I could almost feel as though I was competing for his attention. I didn't need that. It wasn't my place to be upset. He wasn't mine, I was getting upset over nothing.

With a heartfelt sigh, and a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach, I straightened myself up.

Looking to Rocky, "Actually, I was just going to ask Rocky to dance with me." I smiled at Rocky.

I looked to Frank. Not even sure what emotion brewed in my eyes.

Kara looked up at Frank her eyes shuttering her emotions from him. "I wouldn't mind a dance Frank, if you think you can keep up with me?" she grinned a sparkle entering her eye.

Rocky's smile was so warm as he danced with Catherine. He motioned from side to side, holding onto her body. The feeling was wonderous, like they were dancing on air. It brought him back to the times of high school, where he felt like someone important.
Twirling, the lights, the sounds, all impeding in his memory. The feeling warmed his very soul. Life itself seemed to have been created for just this moment. Rocky rested his head on Catherine's shoulder, smelling her.
She had a wonderful smell. He took it deep into his lungs, hoping it would never go away. Everything about her screamed excitement.
The reunion was such a happy time. He never wanted it to end.

'Oh DAMN~!' Lucy thought with a twinge of panic. She couldn't believe she let that slip out. She couldn't let him realise she'd done research on him... he'd think she had a crush or something... GOD... she'd never live it down.

Luckily Michelle took this opportunity to leave them "Excuse me for a minute." Michelle winked at Robert and started walking without waiting for an answer towards Angus.

"Ummm... errr... I think a friend must have mentioned seeing you work there..." Lucy managed to say when Robert had turned back to her.

Suddenly she recalled the one other feeling she'd been trying to supress everytime Robert had come up and teased her... the way that her heart started racing... she shook her head and managed a smile she hoped was convincingly cool.

She frowned realising she'd just missed the opportunity to interview Michelle, thanks to Robert. "You realise you've just lost me my interview with Michelle... " She crossed her arms and scowled at him.

She then noticed Frank and Kara dancing. The music was pretty good actually. She grabbed Robert by the hand and dragged him onto the dance floor.

"Come on Robert... you can make up for it by helping me get closer to Frank and Kara.."

She slipped into his startled embrace and nudged him closer to the dancing couple on the floor. Suddenly she realised... this probably wasn't the best idea. The man really had a very nice body on him. She could feel the heat of him through her thin dress... she hoped he couldn't hear her heart racing.

Why the hell was Michelle Looking at him like that?? they had had nothing in common in HS.

Ah well...time for some fun.

Angus walked over to Michelle and placed himself right in front of her.

"Is there anything I can do for you!"

He said in a taunting voice.

Michelle

"The question is not what you can do for me..... but what can I do for you." She circled around him... her eyes moving up and down.. walking all around him until she faced him.
"And I think I could do more than you have ever dreamed about. So how about it? Wanna play?"

*He was beyond tense now.....What the fuck is going on? He thought suspicously, he almost felt like he was going to throw up....But he calmed down, he asked the bartender for Somthing calming, and casually sipped a Club Soda, trying to ease his nerves, maybe he was working too hard on this story....he had been told he wasnt looking so well lately...so he shook his head harshly, and wondered if anyone was going to talk to him....and figured more or less right away no one was. He sighed, It'd always been like this in school. the fucking -beautiful- people all hovered towards one another....they were the ones with the top jobs and big lives....Them and the bad boys....He hated being a geek sometimes, and occasionally wished he could strike back at them all. he pounded his fist into his palm once....the number of times he'd been beaten up....the embaressments...But even as a best seller he couldnt show them up...from what he'd heard one of them was a journalist..one was a lawyer and god knows what else... he began to wonder why he -came- to this damned re-uninon anyway.......oh yeah...The free food...he reminded himself as he grabed an Hours'De Vour and bit down on it sharply....***** was so unfair....He decided to keep a careful watch on everyone entering the auditorium...after all, there were only two ways in and out of it, the door to the main hall and the door to the outside, and from his nice little vantage point against a corner of the Gym, he could see both rather nicely..*

Frank took Kara's hand graciously. He moved out to the middle of the floor, holding Kara tight. They danced slowly, Frank closed his eyes englufing himself into her. He let himself go, it had been forever since he had done that.
In fact, the las time he did had been at the school dance, he had done the same thing to Angela. She had been such an angel. Silently, he stole a peek down to the woman dancing with him. She was an angel too. Wishful thinking he wonderd what it would have been like to go out with Kara instead of Angela. Truth be told, Angela was the only one standing between him and Kara.
Letting those thoughts sail away, Frank got lost again in the music and the dancing.

april watches....

as Frank moves about the room with Kara in his arms. His steps lithe and graceful, April busies herself with the buffet.
Her heart feels heavy as she remembers Frank dancing with Angela, the way he looked down upon her as if she was the first star in the sky on a clear night. His wishes apparent. His awe with her beauty consuming.

April then remembers how she longed to be in his arms. How, at 16, her last thought at night and her first thought in the morning was of Frank. The fantasies were so much better than the reality.

April quickly excuses herself to the kitchen. There she sighs heavily and says to herself, "God! This is too much. I must pull myself together and get on about business."

Then, April's thoughts returned to the reason she was here. In ten years, she had never believed that Frank was innocent of Angela's murder.

Angus reached out and grabbed Michelle by the wrist, a little too roughly perhaps, But he didnt give a fuck.

"I'm too old and too tried to play games girly girl. WHAT'S on you mind??"

Not waiting for a respoinse, he drew her close and looked her hard in the eyes.

"You know Michelle, 8 years in Prison does wonders to your people skills, so quit fucking around and tell me what on your mind!"

Michelle

Michelle looked Angus right in the eyes.....
"I came here for the same damn reason you did. To see how ugly and fat everyone had become.. and to get laid." She pulled her wrist away.

"And I thought you would be kick ass entertainment. The pickings around here are slim to none. So are you interested or not?"

Direct and straight to the point, Angus liked that in her...so much more direct than she had been in HS.

Looking at her for a moment he replied.

"Sure, lets get a brewsky and talk....we'll see about the getting laid part later Michelle"

"Lead and I shall follow." She smiled and winked up at him.
If she played her cards right, something good might come out of this damn reunion.

As she followed...... her mind drifted back ten years.

To her, it had just been another day at school. She had driven herself and a few friends to school in her new BMW that her daddy had bought her for her 17th birthday. She loved the power of an expensive car. She loved all things expensive.

Walking up to the school, she saw the bitch. She had hated her from the moment she had first laid eyes on her. Miss Perfect Pants she had called her. Everything about Angela was perfect...at least to everyone else around her.

As she walked by their eyes met............. and the mutual hatred shown thru.

Michelle tossed her hair back and walked on past, snubbing Angela for all she was worth. She hated her.... and was glad that was the last day she had ever seen her alive.
