I'm currently working on a story that started as an incest story then turned to group sex.
It involves two couples, so it evolves into lesbian and gay male sex as these people explore one another.
I was wondering, to appeal to the largest audience, should I post it multiple times, under different genre. It involves so much more than incest.
Some people that might enjoy the different aspects of the story might never see it, listed under incest/taboo.

I don't think L&M would take too kindly to you re-posting the same story multiple times.

Were I you, what I'd do is break the story up into chapters (or expand it if necessary) and post the CHAPTERS under different categories. True, that might cause some confusion when the incest/group-sex people see the Ch.02 of a story they've never seen Ch.01 for, but then they can always check your personal profile and find out.

I agree with CWatson. :D

The other alternative is to put it in novels and novellas. Although I guess that might not suit if it isn't novel-ish. On the other hand, if it's just one story (i.e., not going to be in chapters) it'll end up in whatever category there's most of.

I think we need a little bit more info in order to advise you better.

My story is in chapter form under a different pen name. I have already submitted the first four chapters.

The first is incest, the second is group sex and then I went back to incest, when they were as much incest as group sex.

I went back to incest to avoid confusion, but i probably created a little.

You've a point, that if someone is following the story, they will find it.

I just have to choose a genre and stick with it.

Thanks to all of you.

I was actually wondering something similar. I am about to submit my first story. It will probably be divided into at least two chapters. Most of the sex scenes involve different married couples alone (no group, no exotic encounters, etc). What category would you put this under? I would first think "Loving Wives" but most of the stories in that category that I've looked at involve wives cheating on their husbands. So I'm confused.

And then there is also another scene that involves a married couple and someone else, bordering on incest. But I don't want to throw the entire story into the incest/taboo category simply because of one scene.

Help? Advice?

If the encounters are happening between husband and wife, I would put them in erotic coupling. You may miss some incest readers by avoiding the incest category, but if it's mostly not an incest story, I wouldn't put it in incest.

Loving Wives is a pit of vipers and should be avoided if at all possible. I would only post it there if the story is about the infidelity. The readers in that category seem to be at war with each other. Many an author has been caught in the crossfire.

Check out this How To for a nice description of the different categories.

Thanks for the thoughtful advice freshface.

Don't worry about it. Whichever category you choose the chances are that the powers-that-be will decide for themselves where they think it should go. One of the more frequent questions on this forum is how to get a story moved from where the p-t-b put it to where the author wanted it.
