So for those of you who have or carry Multi-tools what do you have? Why do you prefer it?

I personally have a Gerber and a Sheffield.

The Gerber is nice but the tools are a pain in the ass to pull out when I need them.

The Sheffield is nice as well but it's steel quality is low.

I used to have a Victorionox and loved it but someone stole it.

I've got a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife that I've carried for 30 years. Best $50 I've ever spent.
Most unique use I've ever made of it: The magnifying glass makes a dandy emergency cigarette lighter.

I can do almost anything with a screwdriver and an adjustable wrench.

The leatherman when i'm working around the house or on projects, otherwise a small swiss army knife (never leave home without it).

The SOG PowerLock Series is the best I have found. High quality, excellent design, and an array of replacable blades and tools make it incredibly versatile. The compound leverage on the jaws also make it a better choice than most purpose built pliers and cuts. It is on the expensive side but well worth the money.

You do get what you pay for.

HA! The thread title says "mulit-tool" and I read it as a semi-intentional mis-spelling of "mullett-tool", or sort of an ironic play on words to describe men (or women) who carry multi-tools on their belt or something. No offense intended, SeaCat. ;)

Actually, I think I might start calling them that from now on.

I tend to call mine the "McGyver".

Leatherman.

It's been run over by a FV 432. Works just fine still. Has done a lot of interior repair and general fucking about, only complaint is that the screwdriver head can get lost if it gets bumped hard while in use: so no stabbing anybody with the screwdriver bit. That's what the knife blades are for.

I hate 'em, too heavy. and I refuse to wear a holster on my belt - I do keep one in the glove box, pliers are occasionally useful for fabricating impromptu tools, modifying coat hangers to fish for keys, etc., but an actual pair of pliers usually works better.

I usually carry the smallest Swiss army knife, which is just about everything I need in a knife, and a folder in my back pocket.

I used to carry the Tinker, which has a Phillip's head driver on it, handy for adjusting this loose headlight screw on my old '66 Mustang, but I don't have that car anymore.

At work, I've been known to use a Butterfly knives and switchblades, since you can quickly open them with one hand, saves time, although whatever folder I'm carrying usually opens with the flick of a wrist, occasionally I find myself in a cramped space, or high off the ground with only a very precarious hold, and I don't want to make any sudden movements.
