I don't recall the source, but I believe they broadcast victory parties in 92 and 96. After this fall's election someone asked why they didn't have one this year. Their answer was : "Because Bush isn't a Democrat."

Let me see if I can dig anything up on the web about it.

I looked around and can't find any quote to that effect anywhere. If you can provide an actual source, that'd be great. :)

What are you waiting for then?

they are playing on the misconception that children and young adults are more liberal than they really are
It's not just MTV that assumes young people are liberal. (And they are more liberal, on average, than older generations.) I saw a snippet on MTV where they addressed their obviously liberal slanted coverage. They said they at first attempted a more even-handed coverage, but the GOP associates MTV with a young (read: unregistered, apathetic) audience, and the Republican candidates were not willing to give the station much time. Dems have traditionally tried to woo young people, so their candidates were more willing to talk to the MTV reporters. They showed their reporters following candidates from both parties, and the Republicans would barely answer a question before turning their attention to a more established (read: registered voter demographic) station. Of course, the "alternative" parties (Green, Libertarian) were more willing than the two biggies to talk to MTV.
