i thought i'd ask in here first.

i use MS Word at times, and i was wondering if there is an ability to add more documents to the area on the right of an open document. the default, as it opens, seems to be four. is it possible to increase that amount?

(they are the documents last worked on - in case i wasn't very clear.)

No joy

From what I have been able to find, that area of the "task pane" is not customizable. You can add a location to the icons on the right of the open dialogue though. It is not too hard to do if you are interested in the instructions.

hi there turner20 and welcome to the poetry forum :)

you've dashed my hopes, i was planning on adding documents to the round dozen lol (i will have to teach myself to name my document CAREFULLY before i close them)

okay, how do i go about directing a specific location to the icons? i'm all ears.

:)

The first thing I did was figure out how to get rid of that window on the right! Why do you want it open at all? By clicking on "File" in the upper left screen corner you can see up to 9 of your last opened files, pepending on the number you have selected on the "tools"/"options"/"general" drop down box.

Thank you for the welcome.

click file/open from any office application
browse to the folder you want to add to the icon list on the left
click tools/add to "my places" (on the top right of the open dialoge window)

This will add it to the icons. You can now Right click on it and choose Move Up or Down to change the order.

Hope this helps

oh boy i love gadgets!

okay i'll try both those options out and see which i prefer. (looks like i have to restart the pc to see any changes.)

thank you both, i'm in heaven now.
