It's a nice thought.

I still just wish I could hit him. Like, maybe if I saved the universe from ultimate destruction, maybe that would be one of three things I asked for: Once each year I get to punch the president of the United States square in the melon without secret service intervention.

A template would save time.

"Name TBD was a farmer/an investment analyst/a patriot/a geologist/other who had a long and illustrious career in farming/investment analysis/patriotism/geography/other."

I think that's what the CIA uses when beaming messages to his brain.

Ever notice when he pauses in a speech that his eyes go dark until he starts to speak again? That's a new message being piped in.

That's my theory anyway.

That's not many punches.

I hit hard. And I'd make it worth it.

Can you really punch someone with a Buick? If you can't I'll have to change my original statement....

It's a little bit like hitting the puppet instead of the ventriloquist, but I can see how it might be satisfying.

If I had to limit my wish to GWB, it would be that every time he makes a statement that isn't true, he'd grow shorter by one full inch. By November 2004, he'd have been the size of a marmot.

Oh hell, he'd have been looking up to lichen by the time the 2000 election day rolled around.

edited to add: But that is a funny image though...a little GW marmot running around trying to talk with lemurs and prairie dogs....

No, wait! <hops up and down, waves hand from back of classroom> I've got one! I've got one!

I'd wish that every time Bush says something that isn't true, he'd get an uncontrollable urge to locate Dick Cheney and punch him in the nose.

Sweet justice.

Poor little guy. With his record on the environment, he'd still have trouble wrapping up the prairie dog vote.

Oh sweet God! I just laughed so hard I choked!

And every time Cheney says something that isn't true, he immediately kisses Donald Rumsfeld right on the lips and pledges his everlasting love.

*smack*

Edited to add - It would be an orgy.

This is hitting on all kinds of Gay orgistic S&M goodness (badness?)

But then, how many of us want to see men in their 50's and 60's (or 900's in Cheney's case) doing that with each other?

Fuck, I don't watch 'em now, I wouldn't have to watch 'em then. But just imagine the reaction from the religious right!

Gay men in their 50's and 60's, I would think.

But I'm not certain Cheney even has a heart, so any pledging of love would certainly be suspect.

No, I think you're right. Darth Cheney probably gave that up long ago...

Shereads, on my best days I can't be nearly as funny as you. You are my hero.

It's pretty sad anyone is using the passing of Peter Jennings to send even more abuse GWB's way. We are all well aware of everyone's low opinion of the President since some people take every little opportunity to state it. I don't think you need to use the death of a respected journalist to smear him more. That's disrespectful to Jenning's memory to say the least.

Go ahead and flame me. I don't care.

(and no, this post is not in support of GWB, but I'm more than tired of every single thing turning into a bash the president/political thread. You won't have to worry about hearing more complaints from me for awhile about the political stuff. Someone's going back on ignore so I don't have to see it.)

I was never here when we had Clinton in office, but I'm assuming that things turned into a flame on him quite often as well....political dissidence seems to be our mind set.

No flaming. That isn't the point.

This thread isn't about Jennings. It's about how heartless GWB is to give such a piss-poor statement at the passing of a wonderful man (who happened to be a wonderful journalist, as well).

There is a different thread, a beautiful tribute, to Jennings.

He was a journalist? I stand corrected, then. The president got it right.

You obviously haven’t never checked through the comments on Republican and “Religious” Right sites and blogs.

They don’t use the death of a respected journalist to smear GWB, they use it to smear Peter Jennings

From WorldViews - Peter Jennings dead at 67 - Comments

Rest In Peace, Mr. Jennings.
Posted by Nathan Bennette at August 8, 2005 05:12 PM

Peter Jennings, though I regret your distinctly left-liberal views and propaganda, requiescat in pace.
Posted by Solon at August 8, 2005 06:31 PM

I don't know much about Jennings. Is there any reason to think he actually is resting in peace? I say this not based on ideology but on faith in Christ, or lack thereof.
Posted by Kevin Braun at August 9, 2005 08:30 AM

Kevin -- I saw a comment by Jennings during one of ABC's memorial segments. Jennings said one of the things he has learned during his years of covering world news is, "there in NOT one, single truth which applies to all people."

I certainly did not care for his liberal bent, but he was a good broadcaster and seemed to be a nice guy to hang around. But a statement like that would seem to indicate the man did not know Jesus Christ, for if there is one thing that Christians know it's this: Nobody gets to the Father except through Jesus Christ the Son. That is a "single truth which applies to all people."

What does it profit for a man to gain the whole world...?
Posted by Laz at August 9, 2005 09:31 AM

I bet he regrets forging those Bush/National Guard documents, now, huh? And, let's face it, Brian Williams is doing a much better job.
Posted by Quester "Two Sheds" Jackson at August 9, 2005 01:24 PM

I think you're thinking of CBS, and they didn't create false documents, but didn't scrutinize them enought upon delivery.
Posted by Nat at August 9, 2005 02:01 PM

Uh, yeah, Nat. I'm lampooning the awareness level of your average WMB poster. And I guess you weren't aware that Brian Williams replaced Brokaw, not Rather.

'Nuff said.
Posted by Quester "Two Sheds" Jackson at August 9, 2005 02:29 PM

with the internet around, does anyone watch the news anymore?
