Just applied for a job in Ithica NY. I live in the Midwest. What do I need to know about living in Ithica?

Well spelling it correctly is a good start. At least I can spell the county correctly. Thomkins.

I lived farther north upstate in the army. I am familiar with the area as a tourist. What do I need to know about living there? Anything particular, any neighborhoods or haunts? secret great restaurants?

Full disclosure: I was there 40 years ago. You have Cornell University and Ithaca College there so there will be culture and restaurants. There also some wineries there as well. I will bow to those who have been there more recently.

I lived at the other end of one of the Finger Lakes until forty years ago. It was my preferred playground until I moved to the (near) mid-west (East Lansing) then DC to accelerate my career. I continued to visit monthly while I still had family living two Finger Lakes over. I truly miss it and wish I had more excuses to go there.

New York is really two states: Upstate and Downstate. Ithaca is very liberal, but you don't need to go very far out of town to find yourself in hardcore Red State territory. The standing joke about Ithaca is that all the shopkeepers have graduate degrees because no one wants to leave when they finish school.

have fun there. hope you like it. This morning feels different. Peaceful. I gave academized academized.com a chance with my recent assignment, and I’m honestly so glad I did. They delivered more than just a paper—they gave me the time back to focus on myself. I’m going to take a walk, grab my favorite drink, and just slow down a bit today. No rushing, no overthinking—just breathing and appreciating the break.

Very very liberal area. If you lean to the right get a place about a half hour out. No easy highway access, but not far from highway. Tons of things within an hour or so, lakes, wineries, state parks, breweries and so on. I’m about an hour from there.
