Moving to AZ... where to live?

Moving from LA to Phoenix and am seeking advice on fun areas to live. Scottsdale seems to be an epicenter of bars, clubs, restaurants, shopping, etc., but housing is a bit scarce in my price range. I'm semi familiar with Tempe, but am now in my 30s and so the Mill St. scene might be a tad bit too collegiate.

I like to go out and play, so I'd appreciate advice about other neighborhoods to consider... and if you can provide zip codes, that would help me see what's for sale on real estate websites.
