I've gotten several comments on my story for the Summer Lovin' contest (Runner's High) saying that it would fit much better in Erotic Couplings rather than Romance, where it is now. So, two questions:

First of all, how would I go about doing this? I'm pretty sure I've read something about it a long time ago, but can't for the life of me find it again.

Also, would it even be worth the effort? The story was posted more than 3 months ago, would it even matter? Reads and votes are only trickling in very slowly at this point, although it did get a bit more attention after posting my last story.

Probably not worth the effort. Erotic Couplings stories don't receive, on average, more views than Romance stories, so the switch won't net you more readers. I suppose you might get higher scores, but if the traffic is low it won't make any difference to the overall score.

Did the comments say why you should switch?

I assume to do this you would send a message to Laurel asking the story to be switched. You could also revise and resubmit the story, with a new category and an explanation in the notes to Laurel, in which case it might show up as a new story.

Just that it didn't really belong in Romance, which was a concern I already had when submitting, and looking back now I agree. There's hardly any romance to it, except for a slightly slow buildup. I think my reasoning was that it might be too slow for the EC crowd, but it is essentially just a hookup after their second meeting, which would fit EC better I think.

To move it to another category, resubmit with EDIT added to the title (exact same title), and ask Laurel in the Note to Editor to move it. It will keep its score and all comments.

Not that it will make much difference - if it's three month's old, it's done its thing already. But you might avoid more grumpy comments from Romance readers.

PM Laurel with a link to the story and why you wqant what done. She has the final decision but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Hmm... I guess I'll just leave it then. It doesn't seem to hurt my score too bad, most comments that do suggest I move it are long the lines of "good story, but it should have been in Erotic Couplings". Didn't get any comments saying they voted low because of it, so it should be fine. Just something to keep in mind so I can better place my future stories I guess.

I made that very switch. It didn't affect my score. But it probably belonged in EC from the start.
