As some of you kids know, I got a scholarship to film school, which is all yay and everything, but I'm pretty darn sure my movies won't do so well, because I have....different taste. So I'm just a tiny bit curious, what's everyone's favorite movie?

It's very hard to limit it to just one, CC. There are so many great films. Must think about this some more before answering, because I know I'll want to take it back. :/

aww just make a list then!! Ok, I'll start. My all time favorite movie is Coffee and Cigarettes.

What genre?

My fav, watch over and over again movie- bounces between Starship Troopers and anime "Fruits Basket"

Fave romance- "Fools Rush In"

All time favourite? Well, I can't go wrong with any of the Lord of the Rings movies, if only for the great special effects and characters.

As a stand-alone movie I would say it's a toss-up between Fail Safe or The Hunt for the Red October.

Hunt for Red October is ok for killing a couple of hours, but it is basically crap, if viewed as a submarine movie. So "fucking" unrealistic that you just can't decide whether to laugh or cry....in all the "wrong" moments....

There is only one submarine movie: "Das Boot". Period. :)

American History X

I don't watch it very often at all, because it's a hard movie to stomach. But, it's very powerful.

Wow, I love waaaay too many movies! But here are a few..

1. Under the Tuscan Sun
2. Gone With the Wind
3. Little Big Man
4. Armegeddon
5. Dirty Dancing

I could go on forever..

Sc-fi would be the 5th element
action would be terminator all three of them
I am a sucker for B rate movies.

Oi vay. My friends and I had a sleepver like, two weeks ago (before anyone says anything, shut up) and we went on a movie run and I BEGGED for anything else, but I was out voted and everyone else decided we would watch Dirty Dancing, so most of the night was just me rolling around on the floor trying to smother myself with a pillow yelling "Just end my life, I can't watch this movie," followed by "Patrick Swayze is a God amoung men." And unfortunately, a lot of my friends are dancers, and one knew the entire friggin dance, and I considered stabbing myself in the face. That movie is pretty much the reason I'm going to film school. To prevent it from ever happening again. Yup.

B movies make the world go round. If not for the Evil Dead movies, my life would be incomplete.

THANK YOU!

And besides- the public needs less mainstream movie garbage.
And while I love zombie movies, we need a break from those for a bit too.

haha my goal in life is to go through film school, and to work some lame retail job to fund my little independant films to amuse myself so I can sit in my one room apartment alone without the company of any mainstream media. It will just be me, my films, my babies (2 guinea pigs and a bunny w00t) and Frank Sinatra on vinyl.

And I totally agree. Zombie movies are good, but only for so long. Evil Dead= classic. new Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead =death to America.

Agreed. That one's in my top ten, although it gives me the creeps to watch it.

I enjoyed the Resident Evil movies (liked the games and books too) but the plot's getting over used in most cases.
Guy/Girl A wakes up to find spouse/so/kid trying to eat them, world's apocolyptic, they hole up some where with a group of random weirdos and all die or the zombies stop being "undead" and are just dead.

What computer you using to do your media on, if you don't mind my asking? Love the iLife suite from Apple- handy.

Oh, I totally agree that Hunt for the Red October shouldn't be taken too seriously. The plot is pretty solid in my opinion, but yeah, it's not uber-authentic that some people are led to believe.

Das Boot is kick ass to, though! Actually, I'd say my favourite genre as World War II movies like Patton or The Longest Day.

Okay, okay. My all time favourite movie EVER is: Corvette K225. Cheesy, patriotic, and over-the-top characters, but still great to watch.

my school kind of bought an editing suite....and I'm kind of the only one with a key haha, but it's a final cut 4.5 suite if that helps you out at all? and for days when I don't feel like using final cut, I'm in the process of getting my own Avid suite, because it's alot less....annoying. haha

Ok, here's a list. I think the first was is my all-time favorite:

1. 2001 A Space Oddysey
2. The Magic Christian
3. They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
4. The Magnificent Seven
5. The President's Analyst
6. Closet Land
7. Lawrence of Arabia
8. Das Boot
9. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
10. Harold and Maude

edit: shit, here we go:

11. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
12. Anything by Mel Brooks, although Springtime for Hitler was a favorite
13. Early Woody Allen flicks

Patton was awesome.

As for cheese, I loved "Spirit of 76" Anyone who has nostalgia for the 70s _needs_ to see that ridiculous cult film.

Wait, Patton WAS awesome.

Can I change my favourite again?

Cool, I've seen Final Cut 4, not 4.5 though.
Nice work on the key kidnapping, LOL.

When you release a film, throw up a "Go see this" kinda thread, would you? Would be nifty to go see it and say, yeah, I chatted with her online before she was famous (or infamous as the case may be).

I didn't kidnap, they gave it to me, and said it was for faculty only.... but none of the teachers know how to use it....the principal is my bitch. haha, as long as I make videos for pep rallys, I get what I want.
