Re: Re: my picks
Anyway, as a young guy, all the movies that I ever liked came out during the 90's pretty much, so I have a list a hundred items long or so.
But I'll just post what I can think of off the top of my head.
All-Time Greatness:
American Beauty
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
Conspiracy Theory
Fear of A Black Hat
Legend of Drunken Master (90's I think)
The Usual Suspects
Wayne's World
Fight Club
Life is Beautiful
Copycat
Phoenix
Pulp Fiction
Interview with the Vampire
Precedents:
The Matrix
Jurassic Park
Fight Club
Wayne's World (as the only good snl movie)
Boyz in the Hood
Love Jones
Cube
House on Haunted Hill (scariest movie ever)
I looked at some other people's posts (and yeah, I did see a few and had to add them to my list) and I wanted to make a few comments:
Really? I thought Boogie Nights was much better than Magnolia, which was really good as well.
I have no idea why Princess Mononoke gets any more attention then say, Akira, or Ninja Scroll. I think something about it says
great Anime for non-Anime fans, but I don't know what.
"Nowhere" was very cute. It started out good, but how can you say you still like it, having seen the ending?
What Dreams May Come sucked to me, because they tried to define these images of heaven and hell that didn't interfere or delve to much into any particular religion, and because the movie was too colorful, ultra-optimistic ("No one has ever come back!"), and... although I don't believe in heaven or hell, the movie was like Pocahontas to me, knowing the actual story of Pocahontas. I don't know if that's what everyone else thought or not.
Actually, two: Chasing Amy and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which might have come out after 1999, so I'll shut up.sd412 said:
Well, then you're missing one.
