Movies are truly better in the theater!

Let's see a good experience: I took my mom to the movies a while back, (for some reason my parents never go) and it was one of the best movies I remember seeing in a theater. Everyone laughed and cried together. When the movie was over no one moved or said a word for what most have been 3 minutes. On the way home my mom asked me if that was normal.

A bad experience: I had a friend drag me to see SouthPark. Now at that point I had never watched an episode on tv, so I had no idea what it was about. I spent the entire movie confused. I had no idea what was so funny that the idiots around me were almost falling out of thier seats.

Last great one was Croucing Tiger, but Ice Age was also much as you described it... except I don't think it was your daughter I took.

This isn't like your experience. When I was a kid and 1,000 miles away from home, I snuck into an R rated scary movie. There were three of us and the other two were three years older than me, but all of us were far underage. The ticket taker said "Who are you with?" and the first guy stuck his hand in the air, directed his thumb behind him and said "Him"...the next guy did the same thing, and then the ticket taker looked down a little me. I picked my hand up, pointed behind me in the same manner and said "Him" and the middle-aged stranger in the black jacket and hat behind me just smiled......and off we went.

I was so scared by the show that every time I heard the sound track for three years afterwards the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

Going to movies is better now because the theatres are better. The new ones got those stadium seats so you look straight ahead not up to see the screen. And they got better sound now.
Most recent one i seen was Road To perdition which was real good.

But you can't pause the movie for a potty break like at home...

I like to see the horror movies in the theatre, just to watch everyone jump at the same time and see the popcorn fly in the air.

Two weeks ago, when I went to see Signs, it was so quiet and the show was sold out. Everyone was into the film. It made it eerie. The movie was creepy to begin with.

The best was when Star Wars was rereleased. I went on sold out opening night. When the movie started, the cheering was so loud that my seat was shaking.

There is no possible way that going to see a movie at a theater is better than staying at home and watching it.

Why?

1) Someone's frigging cell phone always rings, I mean for christssakes how about a little courtesy?

2) Almost every movie I have went to someone's bratty kids are always crying, raising a ruckus, bothering me & others, etc...

3) No bathroom breaks...there should be a law for movies 2 hrs. and longer.

4) If you're lucky enough to have that home entertainment setup (and I'm not) it's just as good.

5) You're not going to have to pay $7 to get in, and about $8-10 for snacks.

6) If you arrive a bit late you might have to squint to see the screen or suffer neck cramps later.

7) More comfortable seats at home, plus you're feet don't stick to that dirty ass floor (well unless you're a complete slob).

8) You can rent a "R rated" movie at a video store and not get carded to watch it.

These are just some reasons, if I thought about it for another half hour or so I could come up with more.

Ahh a night at the movies.

I remember my last trek to the movie theatre.

A drunk in the back kicking the seat in front of him so hard you could hear it out in the lobby. Ushers came in multiple times before they had security escort him out.

A shrill voiced woman who insisted on repeating everything the female star said in a funny voice.

The jackass who out of a theatre room that had, gee, 100 empty seats chose the one right in front of me and got up every 5 damn minutes to go get more coke/food.

The people sitiing in front who decided to bring their infant to the movie and we got to hear it's ear shattering shrieks, oh I'd say for the first 10 minutes of the film.

Good times!

My 13-inch TV just doesn't do justice to ANY movie.

But there are some movies, I only want to watch on that dinky TV. Probably have a wet spot in my pants if I watched it in the theatre.

I've forgot my ID once when I was trying to get in a movie ( I was 21), pissed me off.

I mean really most kids 13 and up have seen the porn magazines and heard cussing plus they have stuff just as bad on broadcast TV, not to mention cable, plus HBO & Showtime.
