I need some down time. I've decided on a movie day (complete with popcorn and assorted junk food). I'm looking for suggestions. Movies you liked and why. Prefer a bit of an idea of a plot but no spoilers.

Drama, Suspense, Action and Romance preferred. I'll start.

All time favorite—Gross Pointe Blank. A hit man goes to his ten year high school reunion to deal with his anxieties. Action/Romance/Dark Comedy

Memento

a murder mystery that is show from the perspective of a man with the inability to retain memories.. the move plays backwards too

it's a Chris Nolan film... so you know its going to be brilliant

For those of you who enjoy indie films rather than the tired, boring Hollywood blockbusters here are a couple of good ones:

Human Quake [2003] Middle-aged, overweight man discovers he has the power to start earth tremors. This is a super-hero story with great heart.

Blue Stockings, She Wore [1989] Anyone with a stocking fetish will enjoy this indie rom-com.

The Hatchlings [2006]: A surprisingly tight alien invasion thriller set in Buffalo, NY. Cher is listed as the executive producer and she actually makes a brief cameo as a hair salon customer.

SNEAKERS

Great cast, Robert Redford, James Earl Jones, Sidney Portier (sp?) Dan Ackroyd & more.

Movie about some hackers now doing security work. The mob and the CIA get involved. The scene with the Scrabble board is hysterically funny, but you have to be watching for it.

Really a fun show.

American Beauty - I watched that recently and its absolutely brilliant...Sam Mendes, Balls and Kevan Spacey....Its about a middle aged man infatuated with a teenage friend of his daughter..and along with it many subplots..tied by a surreal, almost tragic, philosophic outlook.

Any good movies out there maybe along the Steampunk style?

If your not above cartoons Atlantis: The Lost Empire is one of the most underrated Disney flicks ever. Just stay away from the sequel.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is pretty good too

Not sure how I feel about labeling Hellboy as Steam Punk and not comic but Hellboy is quite watchable.

The Prestige is amazing and fuck anybody who says otherwise!

As with Hellboy I'm not sure I like labeling the Sherlock Holmes flicks as Steam Punk but the wiki lists em.

I would say The Sixth Sense. I don't want to spoil it for you, but Bruce Willis is dead the whole time.

"Desperate Living" directed by John Waters is my favorite movie.

It is even better after you have smoked a few joints.

I guess all movies are like that.

What was this thread about again?

Oh yeah, Desperate Living...

I like Peggy Gravel in the movie.

Here is one of her most famous lines.

Peggy Gravel: Go home to your mother! Doesn't she ever watch you? Tell her this isn't some communist daycare center! Tell your mother I hate her! Tell your mother I hate you!

Another one:

Peggy Gravel: Hello? What number are you calling? You've dialed the wrong number! Sorry? What good is that? How can you ever repay the last thirty seconds you have stolen from my life? I hate you, your husband, your children, and your relatives!

Does anybody have a joint?
