Movie role Dom types.

What about the Mr. Smith character? He was pretty dominant and in the end he was trying to take over the whole thing. He even managed to invade that one guys head and posess him. He just had the annoying habit of trying to kill everyone.

Smith was just scary. Talk about a computer program with unforseen consequences.

Scary perhaps but was he dominant?

I never saw him as dominant personally...just psychotically desperate to be in control or to escape the matrix.

The problem with Smith is that initially he's a cog in a collective consciousness. He does break out and develop his own identity and yes he does want to rule the world so I think he'd qualify in the end, but, again, I don't think the Matrix is any more D/s than any other mainstream movie or story where different characters have different levels of power drives.

D/s shmee ess.

I definitely find a powerful perv in a movie with so many suavely well dressed people pummeling each other.

I believe we'd call Agent Smith a true master , including all the self-declarations and delusions of grandeur that come along with the title.

I think--if he were a human being and not an aberrant computer program--we'd call him a psychopath/sociopath, and put him in a rubber room. Sociopath /= Dom.

Except that Morpheus isn't a Dom, he's a prophet leading the flock waiting for the Messiah. Nobody who's waiting for his Messiah to manifest so he can serve is a Dom. So, even though Neo is the pupil, initially, he's still the Dom --- he's a rule maker/breaker not a rule follower.

This I agree with. Morpheus is the ultimate alpha sub. Neo's a little too outside-the-system to be put on a Dom-sub scale, but if you have to do it, he's more dommy than subby.

You folks are so into fixed identities!

I would say that the Jedi Master/Neo-as-clueless pupil is perfectly able to be a Dom who started as a sub. It's a progression, it's not how everyone progresses, but it's certainly not impossible. You start out wanting and needing to please and satisfy your superiors and you reach a position of mastery after excelling within that structure, you reach a point where you can make/break rules but only after you know what they are.

The kids who knew that there was no spoon had more Mastery than Neo at that point.

Fair enough.

Anyone ever notice how Winnie the Pooh is a Dom?

We had a discussion about this somehwere. I think the general consensus is that Tigger's a switch, piglet a sub, Rabbit a top, and Pooh a switch. I think we agreed the eeyore was a dom and owl a 'true master'.

I didn't know we were on to cartoons, but (I don't know if it's been said), what about Peppermint Patty?

Vanilla dyke. Nothing exciting there. ;)

Edited because I decided after-the-fact that it needed a wink.

OK, professor. You're gonna have to explain that, for us slow kids in the class.

Look at the way pooh bear is always very calm and in control. Except for getting stuck in rabbits hole when he ate too much honey.

He always manages to almost instantly break complex situations down to their most simple form and understands them intuitively.

Look at how he even dressed up as a raincloud to fool the bees! It would have worked if it didn't rain.
