Mourning the Dictatorship.

The founding fathers did not have our current world in mind.
If they'd have had a crystal ball to see it, they'd have gone back where they came from and left the place to the Indians.

Disagree. Pretty sure they'd do it all over again

I would've.

You're long winded for no reason. The founding fathers did not have our current world in mind.
And yet they made the means available to change the constitution, through Ratified amendments. the only way to legally change the US Constitution. So they did not foresee all the technology changes that would happen, but had anticipated many technology improvements that might require constitutional changes.

They anticipated tech that would require Costitutional changes?

You need to go sell that to Marvel before DCL steals it.

the founding fathers were not at all terrified by change, but instead embraced it in the Constitution.

They had already witnessed amazing advancements in weapon technology. To think they assumed firearm technology was somehow going to suddenly stop progressing is as inane as an intelligent person today thinking that weaponry isn't going to advance past where it is now.

Hell, many of our Founding Fathers were accomplished inventors, doctors, designers, and engineers themselves! To think they somehow had this massive ignorance around weaponry whilst simultaneously being able to create a country and system of governance that was completely new and had never been done before and fighting and winning a massive war to do it is, quite frankly, rather insulting.

The Founding Fathers were 18th-century tech geeks.

Thomas Jefferson nearly went broke collecting scientific instruments

Benjamin Franklin would have been a hit on “Shark Tank” flying his kite and showing off all of his inventions, including bifocals.

The Independence Hall crowd weren’t just the earliest early adopters. They channeled their geekery and reverence for science into the principles of government.

And the Federalist Papers are filled with scientific, medical and mathematical metaphors, including “the ENLARGEMENT of the ORBIT within which such systems are to revolve either in respect to a single State, or to the consolidation of several smaller States into one great confederacy.”

they were certainly familiar with the concept of repeating firearms, large capacity magazines, etc...:

Also of note is that although the Gatling gun was not invented until 1861, the basic idea was already kicking around in the 18th century; they just didn't yet have the engineering technology to make it.

Essentially, gunsmiths in their time already knew how to make repeating firearms; they just couldn't produce them in large enough quantities and at a low enough cost to replace the normal flintlocks. It would not be until the Civil War that technology finally caught up with the idea.

You learn so much in these threads.

I had no idea that returning power to the people was Fascist. I must have missed that class.

I was also unaware that technology drives changes in the Constitution. I would suggest that if that were the case there would be 27,000 amendments instead of 27.

Some random comments follow.

Who would have prognosticated that it would take a black man to restore an enumerated constitutional right to the people?

Who would have guessed that the court would be the body to hold that legislative branches feet to the fire? In essence telling them to "do your fucking job!!!" Whether the congress critters like it or not the ball is back in their court.

Which "state" religion are they forcing upon people? I must have missed that part of the opinions during the June 2022 sessions.
You must have. You should go check before you expose your ignorance again.

You could fill boxes of wine with the things you’re unaware of.

150 million American women will certainly beg to differ that their freedoms were "Returned" to them.

That's like saying that when O.J. Simpson was arrested and carted off in handcuffs, his "Freedoms" were returned to him.

By what warped, twisted logic can you honestly say that a supreme court ruling that allows the government to TAKE AWAY people's freedoms is "Returning the power to the people!???" I mean, honestly, WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK?!? Are you really an American, or are you just that fucking dumb?

Fine. Then let's let the voters decide through their elected officials.
That is as it should have always been.

For far too long now the legislatures, both federal and state, have ceded power to the administrative branch or subjugated themselves to the judicial. This is quite purposeful on their part. It allows them to absolve themselves of responsibility when things go to shit, but to bask in the light of credit for those things that work out. It's all about getting re-elected don't ya know?

This court has said, "The executive cannot rule by fiat and you can't hide behind our skirts anymore." It's going to be ugly for a while because many of the legislators can not, or will refuse, to adjust to the new paradigm. Depending on what happens with society the change may take as long as 20 years. And oddly enough the court has passed the same along to the citizen. The citizen will be faced with the reality of voting what is best for the nation or their state, or they can vote for legislators that promise to do for them what they are capable of doing for themselves.

One of the larger problems that has to be addressed is what has been happening in our schools and universities. Fortunately the Wuhan Flu has unmasked that activity and aroused the ire of parents across the nation. One can only hope that the momentum to undo that continues.

I'm an atheist, and haven't had any government agents coming to my door demanding I convert and accept Abraham, Jesus or Mohammed as my savior

What freedom's were taken from 150 million women?! No woman lost any civil liberties under the recent SCOTUS term opinions released last month.
