Sparky? Comshaw? Who else rides? Is anybody catching the World Superbike event in Monterey? I can't be the only one.

I ride and I am tempted but that is short notice for me, and my trip to CA last month cost me too much and I am trying to recover from that.

I'm sorry to hear that, STG. The World Superbike/AMA Superbike event is more than just races. It's a gathering of the Ricky Racer crowd that rivals Sturgis for the Harley crowd. Cannery Row in Monterey on Saturday night of Race Weekend has to be seen to be believed. The cops block all 4 wheeled vehicles from the waterfront, and the resulting cruise is like a rolling museum! It's like immersion therapy for a bike nut! I tried it in '97, and it's drawn me back every year since then.

Yeah, but try getting reservations at El Torritos that night:)

El Torito? Come on, you can eat Mexican any other day of the year. It's Monterey! I make my reservations at The Fish Hopper when I hit town Thursday night, and on Saturday evening I'm enjoying crab cakes and snapper as sea otters swim under the restuarant! Yeah, it's crowded, but it's the coolest crowd in America!

I had forgotten about the Fish Hopper, great place. I used to go to Laguna Seca every year, well ok twice a year, AMA and WS. But it's been years. Your thread brought back all the memories of sitting on the hill above above turn 2, getting sunburnt, hiking up the HILL to the corkscrew, oh and the years it rained...now those were fun:D

Laguna Seca is just too cool! Is there another racetrack in the world where you can get fresh calimari at the trackside food court?

I would probably go if it was closer or I lived down there, but while I find sport bikes interesting, especially the tech, I am more of a classic/vintage and adventure bike type person. I went to Sears Point for VMD and that was nice, but I can see sport and race bikes locally. It was fun seeing the classic/vintage bikes race though.

I wouldn't mind living in California, especially the Napa Valley area, and I hear Monterey is nice too, but I haven't had any luck in interesting any employers yet - they seem to mostly want local candidates.
