Lately...okay, usually...I've been struck with a total lack of motivation. Too often, I find myself browsing the internet instead of writing. Does this happe to everyone? How do you get yourself out of these slumps?

I have them all the time, generally right after someone has stuck their head in and asked a stupid question and interrupted my chain of thought.

My MO is to BB here and read over some unpublished stuff that I've been plugging away at for years now. I fix errors, note where it's boring and needs to be fixed. Or, I do my homework and read a book. I stay in the slump for a while, then I just get out of it one day. Dunno how, maybe it's the extra exercise the rest of my body gets.

Sometimes you just have to sit there and make yourself write. You may only get a few words down, but you could also get yourself on a roll. At the very least you'll get some re-reading done, maybe some editing too.

whenever I get stuck, as everyone does, I don't let it worry me. Stress is guaranteed to dissolve all creativity, so don't let it get to you, either.

The best thing for me if the block comes on is to surround myself with all things creative and all things inspirational. Uplifting music, a thumping good movie or even just some stylish prose - eventually ideas start tricking through, and I feel the urge to take another journey back into my own imagination.

Inspiration by osmosis, you could say.
