SRY FOR THE HUGE LETTERS BUT I'M LOSING WHAT'S LEFT ON MY MIND TODAY SINCE BEING A SINGLE MOM WITH LITTLE TO NOOO HELP AND BEING ON SOME FORM OF GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE I DID MANAGE TO COMPLETE A COURSE IN JULY FOLLOWED UP BY SOME JOB SEARCH NOW GIVEN MY RECENT CIRCUMSTANCE OF MOVING AND GETTING MY KID INTO SCHOOL AND TRYIN TO FIND HOME CARE SO I COULD GO OUT AGAIN AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY KID I GET A CALL FROM MY WORKER THIS MORNIN COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR ATTITUDE(GOVERNMENT OR NOT)ABOUT HOW I HAD NOT KEPT IN CONTACT WHAT I WAS DOING I JUST TALKED TO HER LAST WK AND NOW SHE'S LIKE THE PEOPLE THAT ARE SUPPOSE TO GET YA JOB OUT OF THE COURSE THAT I DID THINK I'M UNPROFFESSIONAL CAUSE THE LAST DAY I WENT THERE I WENT TO A TOTAL OF 5 JOB INTERVIEWS AND DIDN'T HEAR SQUAT BACK SO I JUST ASSUMED BUT NOW STRANGELY I SEEM TO BE GETTIN ALL THE BLAME SO ITS NOT BAD ENOUGH THAT U DON'T REALLY HAVE A LIFE RIGHT NOW OTHER THAN BEING SOLE CARE TAKER TO A 6 YR OLD THAT SOCIAL SERVICES' HAS TO PUT U DOWN TOO I tell ya i'm tryin my hardest not to go and DROWN MYSELF

I somewhat agree with the Unregistereds. But I don't know Avery. I don't know her circumstances nor what she does all day.

All I know is that the state provides programs to help people. It's up to the people to go out and make those programs work. Someone behind a desk can't do it for you.

5 applications since July? Honey, You need to do more. A job, unlike that welfare check you get every month, is not going to be brought to you. YOU have to go find it.

There are state programs for day care. Don't tell me you aren't eligible. If you are on welfare.. and they put you through the course.. then you can get the day care help. You may have to pay for a portion of it, but they will help you. They also have referal programs. They can refer you to a day care that accepts state paid daycare expenses.

Now.. it was your choice to have that child. Now you have to pay to raise it.

It's not easy.. It's not fun.. (trust me.. I've been where you are) but it can be done. Millions of single parents work everyday.. without the help of welfare.

I do hope things start to look up soon.

I can understand that moving and all might have caused you some problems, but 5 applications isn't a lot in 2 months. Have you tried applying online and attaching a resume?

Welfare, whether we like to admit it or not here, is right in following up and right in being pissy if you haven't really done a lot since completing the course.

As Freakygurl said, you chose to have the child and unfortunately, there are responsibilities that come along with it.

You are the only one that can get out there and find a job, any job, if you are the sole support.

It's not the time to be choosy or turn your nose up at say waitressing or something in order to get a paycheque and get the hell off welfare.

Are there no friends or family that can provide temporary childcare while you search?

firstly Its' been way more than 5 applications that was just in 1 day...secondly I'll just be like the people in my family who have like 10 kids and just pawn them off on the system and to every dick and harry that'll take them then I'll be MOTHER OF THE YR....
secondly I don't have a problem with welfare following up but if they were going attempt to chew me out then they should have done it last wk when I talked to them and everything apparently all was fine....thirdly I think its' just common courtesy that if your going attempt to trash my reputation then they would have at least called me and told me what there problem was ever heard of the saying "it hurts more having to hear it from other people" and a worker of all luck.....

aren't daycares state licensed in your state? Taking them to daycare paid for by the state.. is not leaving them with every tom, dick and harry. That's the oldest and lamest excuse in the book.

You have a child.. and unless you can get someone in your family, the childs father or his family to care for your child while you work.. then you will have to leave him with a "stranger". That is how life works with kids when you are single.

You work.. they stay with a babysitter.

Welfare reform is the best thing that ever happened to that program.
