Since we've decided that it's the environmentalist's fault for the power failures in California. Please, deregulation had nothing to do with this. The problem being we can't tear down enough forests and build enough dams.

I think it's time we create a couple new nuclear power plants, this would solve that problem. While we're at it we can start on that oil drilling operation in the Artic Circle. Please, pay no attention to the Galapagos Islands, we're Americans we don't make those types of mistakes.

In other news, the UN was joking about global warming and human life doesn't start until age two. Ahhh, Don't make me stop this universe kids, I'm warning you!

Another uncovered Conspiracy from the Vast Center Wing

Well if you want to know the truth about the Californian electric system you merely have to hack into thier finanicial records and it becomes all to abundantly clear. Allow me to explain:

numbers based on 100 to amke explaination easy.

situation:

california produces 100 pounds of energy
california only uses 40 pounds of energy
california sells excess 60 pounds of energy for profit.

california sees that they are giving californias a very low cost energy per hour rate. this does not make much money.

solution:

sell 10 extra pounds of energy outside california

results:

makes more money in excess selling
cause a shortage in its own state
hike the per hour cost and then buy energy from somwhere else for half the price and pocket the other half of the money and lives happily ever after, whilst the people 'freeze' and have no choice but to pay a jacked up price.

cure:

picket and complain to the local government and boycott this travesy.

And thats the cover from the vast center wing conspiracy. and I am canadian and i can see this, can't the californians?

I swear to *insert deity* Never...sometimes I think you are my father...you sound just like him.

He never was much help in assisting me in sorting out my thoughts as far as "world" issues go.

But then again he lives in a tepee so what did I expect.

The more I hear of this, the less I think that there is one simple, definitive answer. It has to be a combination of the environmental movement, deregulation, and ineptitude. I think some of the blame rest solely on our system and its high and quick turnover of leaders. We seem to not have the ability to really plan long-range, because in X years, usually way less than 10, we have a new set of leaders, laws, and regulations.

Dunno if there will ever be a solution as long as we are chained to fossil fuels and afraid of new technologies and unsure of how to best use old technologies.

Just a thought.
