Post your Nominations here for the Editor whom you feel has been the Most Valuable Editor on Literotica!

Again I have to second the nomination for WhisperSecret. (although I think Cheffy has good taste for his nomination <he says humbly>)

I think all the editors here do a good job...

And I havn't seen editors credits on the stories I have read, so how do those members of the board who read the stories, but have not sent the same story to all the editors to compare the results we get back judge most valuable editor.

I like WS and WH's posts and respect the opinion of both. I dont know who else does the editing for the board.

May be this is only for those who have posted stories.

If it is then how many of the writers here have had stories edited by more than one editor?

Ps. Split the prize, share the credit.

First, thanks, you guys. Hey, WH, you writin' lately? Or are you still on your reading kick?

Ezzy, I don't think this is an award that readers can nominate or even vote for. Most stories don't have editors credited. (When I critique/edit, I request that the authors do NOT mention me.) So, really the only people qualified to nominate and vote for this category are the writers who have used Literotica editors. :)

I second Weird Harold's nomination. He worked on "Hostile Takeover" in such a way that I feel that it came out much better and easier to read. He is tactful, yet direct with his comments. Anyone who is lucky enough to have him edit their work will probably agree with me.

I do understand that WhisperSecret...

In which case surely it is only the second category of writer who can lay claim to a vote?

I would like to nominate Sprite. She has always taken my work, which I must admit isn't that good, and turned it into gold.

I have had some very good editing feed back from the editor's forum. I think there is enough information in that forum for a non-author to make a choice.

Those who have used an editor that fits their style will have stonger opinions than those who know the editors only by their public comments.

There is also In some cases, an acknowledgemnt of the editor's contribution in a story. Where there is such an attribution, the readers have some basis for judging the editing.

I don't see any reason for limiting the voting on any category. Those who wish to vote will always have some basis to make a rational decision.

Ezzy, to answer your question, I have. My stories see several people who all have very good ideas. I don't ask for a full edit from the others, just a read it over whattya think. Samuari has been especially valuable in telling me where stories didn't make sense and most particularly where they didn't end. Yes, I like to prematurely end my stories and he stops me. WS gets my grammar, stupid punctuation errors, and beats me about the head and shoulders regarding character development.

I try not to bug her too much.

I always have multiple editors. I had four people read "Hostile Takeover" (my only posted story), and they all found different, valid things to comment upon. My story in progress will or has been read by WH, KM, skibum, Gaucho, Doc Oliver, and maybe Angelique. The more, the merrier. I want different points of view and I always make a point of getting at least one male editor, because I often write from the male's pov and I detest the idea of my men seeming unrealistic.

KM, come on! One little trip to the emergency room and you get all upset! <winks> Just because I find stuff to comment on in your writing, doesn't mean you're not darned good.

WH has a good point, but I disagree. You can't judge an editor from their BB posts. First, I assume, possibly incorrectly, that some of the people who post in that forum, don't actually edit other people's stories. Composing a helpful post in response to a specific question doesn't qualify as editing.

Don't get me wrong! That forum is a valuable tool and anyone who posts helpful suggestions there is valued. My point is that, as valuable as that is, it's not editing.

In my opinion, a good editor is more than a proofreader. Yes, he can examine a story, find the technical errors, and suggest a way to fix them so that the flow of the story isn't interrupted. But he'll also zoom in on the inconsistencies, find the places where the sentences are awkward or confusing, inform you where you're not making sense. I value an editor if they make my writing better not just technically correct.

I'm not sure if he's up on the Editors list yet, but my nomination goes out to Indy_Dark! :) He did a great job and was timely as well.

too crucial

WhisperSecret tore me to shreds... but gawd she taught me soooooooo much in the process. It takes a lot to be a good editor but even more to be a good editor and great teach!

add my vote for WS!

Sk~

I'll nominate Wierd Herold... he helped me with my last installment of "The Tour" which is yet to be posted... and he did it very fast.. thanks WH

Most Valuable Editor: Callie Annie

Definitely, Callie Annie. She pushed me to develop my submission way beyond what I had ever envisioned that it could or ever would be. She is very understanding, positive and encouraging. I highly recommend her to one and all.

I was thinking today that I should withdraw my name from being considered for this award. It's been the better part of a year since I was an official Literotica Volunteer Editor. I 'retired' from that due to time constraints. The award should go to an active participant in that program, someone who is dedicated to helping a large population of Lit writers.
