Most dominant-sounding language?

Educated Southern boy English when spoken by a man with a deep voice. Mmmm....

Completely agree. German and Russian. Very phlegmy. Scary shit.

If phlegmy is what makes them scary and/or dominant, then Arabic might be the most dominant one. That pesky 'ayin is a throat killer.

German and Russian sound pretty neutral to me, but then again, I'm used to hearing them pretty much on a daily basis. My vote goes for Korean or Thai.

Gotta be German. The most fascist, totalitarian, hideous sounding bark of a language.

German seems a little to just random angry for me, not to mention it tends to be over used in film for the dom types. I like a very sophisticated type of dominant like a Scottish brogue or upper class British.

I have to agree here I love the Scottish brogue

Does Troll count? :D

Honestly, I can't find anything menancing about a tonal language. They always sound a bit like singing to me and it's hard to find that dominant at all.

Same goes for Italian and French. Even when they're screaming angry at each other, it just sounds musical.

Eastern European languages tend to be a little harsher sounding, but that doesn't equal dominance for me either.

When it comes to language, it's all about context. Most of the time.

What a wonderful incite into accents. Before now I've always overlooked how sexy certain dialects can be. I shall have to include a character with an accent in my next story :)

Hahahaha, you are fun! Really made me laugh loudly, I'll give you that! :D Russian is a very controversial language - it does depend on the voice and the usage, of course, but even in a soft song I still think it holds some power (especially if you don't look at the video, lol). Now when you have a man speaking it like this it's a whole different matter and the dominance is very evident. I find that Russian is a rather aggressive language which is why it is easier for it to sound dominant.

And just to point out, the man in the second video isn't talking about anything aggressive, he's just hosting a talk show. A good one IMHO :)
