Morgan Sacked

Sacked?

I think they should grab his ass, slap a uniform on him with an MP badge and ship him off to Iraq to walk a beat in baghdad, alone and preferably at night on regular intervals with no freaking ammunition in his rifle.

Isn't it amazing what people will stoop to? I'm guessing the photos were sold to the Mirror for a hefty sum?

People will do anything for a buck. It's just really sad that they don't realize the ramifications of their greed.

Or worse, lucky, they do and don't care about it.

Who is worse, the man who commits atrocities or the man who profits from them?

So does this mean it was only us Americans?

Yes and No.

The allegations against the US troops are backed with genuine photographs.

The allegations against UK troops now have no photographic evidence.

Both are being investigated.

I dare anyone to show me a media person or journalist that would not do anything for a pulitzer.

(Ok before I get flamed from all journalists, I meant to be superficial here and make this statement in general)

But honestly, modern media is pretty much sick most of the times and I think in a lot of ways they rather do harm to a situation than actually do what they are supposed to do.

I STRONGLY disagree with your use of the limiting word 'modern'. To my knowledge there has been no period in history when publishers were not oriented towards profits and/or influence. And while advertising as we know it today seems unique, most publications have always been beholden in some manner to patrons. 'Sensationalism sells' is nothing new.

And we're all susceptible to it. I could not resist our own Globe's publication of Ussama and Sadam's wedding photographs. Could you?

Moern Media? How modern are we talking about? Ever hear about the Spanish American War?

But wouldn't you all agree that this has increased in the last couple of years especially through the increase in media culture like news-channels or the internet???

Nope!

“Yellow journalism” comes from a time when the cheap newspaper aged quickly, and the term was used to differentiate them from the more “substantial” publications that could afford a pricier paper.

Go back further and check out some of the scandalous broadsheets circulated in the 19th Century. Our present newspapers pale by comparison. We just don’t have the vocabularies, nor such an intimate acquaintanceship with the barnyard.

The only reason that scandal rags seem more omnipresent is because they have migrated from the darkest corner of the magazine rack to the checkout counter, and moved onto the television schedule.

But I agree, the 24/7 cable channels do exacerbate the problem.
