Cops who shot dead Stephon Clark will not face any criminal charges: District Attorney

In a Saturday press conference, Sacramento District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced she will not file any criminal charges against the police officers who killed Stephon Clark, The Sacramento Bee reports.

“Clearly we all know he didn’t have a gun,”Schubert said. “But the officers didn’t know that.”

Clark was shot eight times — all from behind or the side.

Dave Reiling, the white Sacramento man whose 911 call initiated the police response, said that how police handled the situation, “makes me never want to call 911 again.”

Black while cell phoning is dangerous in Sacto!

it was unavoidable if the person had followed proper procedure for dealing with police

1. no sudden moves at all

2. don't go grabbing for anything in a pocket, purse, bag, vehicle, etc. its always assumed to be a gun.

3. Don't be stupid, don't be sarcastic. say yes or no answers. otherwise not sure is your friend.

Wasn't this the guy who was breaking people's car windows then ran off when the police came around?

As an aside, I heard the police body cam audio and the officer seemed, to me, quick on the draw to declare a weapon.

if someone is committing a crime, they always going to be considered dangerous

I don't know.

All I know is they could've "apprehended" him the same way police "apprehended" mass murderer Dylan Roof to face a jury for his supposed crimes instead of from extrajudicial execution by the state just to be swept away.

Chicago cop files ‘whistleblower’ claim after CPD asked him to lie about shooting of unarmed teen: lawsuit

On Monday, Chicago police Sgt. Isaac Lambert filed a lawsuit against top officials in the detective bureau after they attempted to “cover up” crucial details about a shooting involving an “unarmed teen with disabilities,” the Chicago Tribune is reporting.

Lambert was assigned to investigate the shooting between unarmed Ricardo Hayes and off-duty police Sgt. Khalil Muhammad.

Lambert claims that he was let go after he refused to falsify the police report in which his bosses demanded he identify Muhammad as the “victim.”

Lambert said he was asked to “mischaracterize” the shooting as “an aggravated assault” against Muhammad by Hayes, even though Hayes was an unarmed teen and did not pose a threat.

“The legal action by Lambert, filed under the Illinois Whistleblower Act, alleged that Muhammad called Hayes over to his personal vehicle after spotting him ‘skipping and running’ near his residence about 5 a.m. Hayes, who was about 20 feet from the vehicle, took about four steps toward Muhammad’s vehicle when the sergeant opened fire,” the report added.

Skipping while black? Not in Chicago my friend!

There are two types of people who become cops: Those that want to help, and those who want authority. Putting on the badge doesn't cleanse a person of being an asshole.

If I went the rest of my life and never had to talk to a cop who was on duty, I'd be good with that.

^^ Off Duty cops can become drunken, belligerent assholes ... with guns.

I've shared a neighborhood bar with plenty of police officers and I found them to be funny and surprisingly open about their mentality on the job, but true, at least half of them still carried their pistols. In my experience, cops drank to unwind and unload, not to cause problems, but that doesn't mean they don't, not any more than the average drinker.

A bit more on the shooting. As I thought I remembered, three car windows smashed, a sliding glass door shattered and a door broken. The guy was then in the darkened backyard of his grandmother wearing a dark hoodie and jeans.

Before the shooting, the officers pursuing the suspect said they saw him face them and "advance forward with his arms extended and holding an object in his hands," the report said. At the time, the officers believed the suspect was pointing a firearm at them.

"When I come around the corner ... I left cover and I look and I see that same subject with his hoodie and sweatshirt pulled up and his arms pointed out extended like this," Terrence Mercadal told detectives hours after he and Jared Robinet shot Clark. To show Clark's position, Mercadal, who was seated, extended both arms in front of him at chest level and appeared to take a shooting position, according to the report.

"... At which time I looked and based on the light coming off of ... my tactical light -- it appeared I thought that he had already shot at me because I saw what I believed to be a metallic reflection or muzzle flash -- something coming at me," Mercadal said. " I was scared. I thought that he had shot at me. I think I remember yelling, 'Gun.'"

That said, the difference between this criminal and Roof is Roof surrendered without incident after being pulled over. It was also daylight. When confronted by five officers with drawn guns he rolled down his window, handed over his driver's license and said, "I'm Dylan Roof."

In Shelby, the FBI handled Roof’s initial questioning, Ledford said. Shelby police’s lone conversation with the mass-murder suspect was about food. Earlier in the day, Roof had bought water and chips at a south Charlotte gas station. Now he was hungry. Police bought him food from a nearby Burger King, Ledford said.

“He was very quiet, very calm. He didn’t talk,” Ledford said. “He sat down here very quietly. He was not problematic.”

Nevada sheriff invokes Hitler in letter to governor announcing she won’t enforce new gun law

A county sheriff in Nevada has decided she knows better than the people of Nevada, and has declared she will refuse to enforce a gun background bill backed by the majority of Nevada residents, and signed into law by Governor Steve Sisolak (D-NV) last month, 3News Las Vegas reports.

“Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly announced on Thursday that she considers the new law, which seeks to prevent gun buyers from avoiding background checks by obtaining weapons through unlicensed sellers, violates the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution.,” the station said Thursday.

It will be interesting to see if the cop gets a pass. My guess is less than 5 years. FTP

Disturbing video shows Miami police violently arresting a black woman who called them for help

New video shows Miami-Dade police violently arresting a black woman who had called them for help after someone pulled a gun on her.

The Miami New Times reported that the context surrounding the viral video remains unclear — and that the Miami-Dade Police Department fired the “field training officer” who appeared to initiate the incident.

It's probably not because she is black.

Long-time Texas cop fired after unbelievably racist body-cam video emerges

A police officer in San Antonio, Texas, has been suspended suspended indefinitely after footage obtained by KSAT’s investigative team revealed he used the n-word multiple times while arresting a young black man.

After 24-year-old Dewaxne Robinson was asked to leave a San Antonio mall by security guards, San Antonio Police Department officer Tim Garcia and his partner were dispatched to the scene, reports KSAT.

After asking for his ID, officers threw Robinson to the ground and handcuffed him, as Herrera berated him with racist slurs. After Robinson questioned why he was being arrested, Herrera questioned his upbringing.

Robinson said his arm was being twisted, referring to Garcia as “n***a.” Garcia mockingly retorted, “N****? Do I look like your n****? Say it right. Put an ‘r’ at the end. If you’re going to say it, don’t call me n****. I ain’t your n****.”

Robinson asked why he was getting arrested, and Garcia said, “For being a f***ed up n****.”

That's Texas Hospitality!

South Carolina *Crooked Sheriffs*??? You Don't F*cking Say!

Fraud, Waste, And ABUSE! :eek::eek::eek:

The Post and Courier in Charleston, South Carolina, published an expose this weekend regarding rampant criminal acts among the state's sheriffs. We're talking embezzlement, bribery, and accusations of sexual assault. The newspaper requested spending records from all of the state's counties under the Freedom of Information Act, or what public officials like to call the "Oh Shit! Burn Everything!" Act. There's too much scuzziness to cover in one post so we're going to focus on a few of our favorite lowlights.

I'll let you decide if you want to read the whole thing. It's too long a list for three paragraphs to even give you the scope of the problem in South Carolina, home of Trump Humping Chumps.

Ohio police unit that arrested Stormy Daniels disbands after officer charged with kidnap and rape

Last July, porn star Stephanie Clifford, better known by her stage name Stormy Daniels, was arrested at a Columbus strip club by three undercover vice officers, and charged with three counts of illegal touching of a patron. She was shortly released after the city prosecutor concluded she had not committed any crime.

Now, according to The New York Times, the vice unit that arrested her is being disbanded, shortly after one of its detectives, Andrew Mitchell, was arrested on federal charges of kidnap and rape:

What happened in Columbus, while particularly egregious, was not an isolated incident. The potential for police officers enforcing prostitution offenses to assault women under the color of law, either through physical violence or through coercing sex workers into giving “freebies,” is enormous. A 2007 study found that in Chicago, street prostitutes were more frequently made to perform sexual acts on police officers than were arrested by them, and another study in 2012 found that among some categories of sex workers in some parts of America, police officers are the main source of violence.

Kidnapping is a capital offence, but the cop will get off with a lesser sentence, probably.:(

Nowata is the third-poorest county in Oklahoma, with a total operating budget of less $1 million, KJRH reported.

At the time of the leak, Nowata County Commissioner Burke LaRue "removed his personal carbon monoxide detector from his residence and installed it" in the dispatch area, according to a sheriff's department Facebook post.

"The Nowata County Jail is a ticking time bomb of constitutional liability," Barnett's attorney, Paul DeMuro, said in an emailed statement to NPR. "If the County thinks it has budget problems now, it better wake up because somebody is going to die in that jail."

https://www.npr.org/2019/03/21/705331915/oklahoma-sheriff-and-deputies-resign-over-dangerous-jail

It seems as though Nowata County has been suffering unrelenting weather issues related to Global Climate Change, which of course, does not exist in that part of America.

FEMA was not very helpful after their disaster declarations, so there's that.
