More Sex on TV?

If it wants to bring its ratings down and hurt its advertisers, then yes.

;) ;)

When has sex ever hurt ratings and advertisers??

It's standard currency....

People like sex, yes even the prudes who claim not to, especially them.

And given the opportunity to view it in the comfort of their own home? They will....they always do.

i'd love it if he adopted a more british type watershed/post-watershed way of doing things where once the kiddies are in bed then the tv may commence with the uncensored cursing and non-pornographic sexy times. i mean, i'd still mostly just watch tv through netflix and other shit online, but it'd still be nice.

Because a lot of religious conservatives will not tune in.

I, for one, do not watch shows for sex, I don't watch the promos on pay TV that show there will be lesbian sex and say to myself, oh boy, that's must see TV!

In Gone With The Wind, when Rhett carried Scarlett upstairs, they didn't show what happened, but everyone KNOWS what happened...

I watched a documentary about GWTW in which they said they had to fight to get that scene into the movie simply because it implied that they were going to have sex. Oh, how things have changed.

Because a lot of religious conservatives will not tune in.

The small minority legitimately so religious they can't stand the idea of seeing a titty or some bump n' grind are already not watching these shows.

They are the "47%" in this case.

Me either, but I also don't boycott advertisers or shows because ass and titties. And neither would the vast vast majority of Americans. It's just not that upsetting to folks anymore....because the reality is everyone loves tits.

I didn't say boycott, I implied that loss of some of your audience hurts your advertisers, unless they are selling condoms, lube, sex toys and Viagra.

;) ;)

That's then your target audience, but if you're trying to sell soap or red copper cookware...

True.....

Depends on the time/network and all that.

IDK, I think network/cable TV are fucked....soon it will all just be a website and TV will go the way of public radio.

GenX is going to be the last boob tubers, millennials don't watch TV.

They said AM radio was dead and then, you know, Limbaugh...

I don't know if the networks will go away or if they will just transition into the new emerging distribution models.

I do know this, a lot of entertainers need to follow the rules of the bar, check politics and religion at the door, because a lot of them are turning off fans. I'm, for example, a reformed football fan with the way the NFL has become the Social Justice League. I didn't watch s single down and now that I know Gaga is going to interject politics at half time, and the league is going to sit still for that, I may never go back.

I haven't had cable TV in over 5 years. Haven't missed it. The internet has everything I want, when I want, with few or no commercials. There are a few shows I miss, but not enough to pay for several hundred channels just to watch 2 or 3. Netflix is a bargain.

I love the way my neighbour is able to provoke, in seemingly innocuous fashion... :D

I'm in the camp that sees the Fundy-generated double standard as absolute crap.

The American rule: Titillation until absolutely last moment, and howl to the heavens at "wardrobe malfunctions"... I hope GaGa gets her nipples AND beaver out there on Sunday. Care to wager the number of Trumpite Baptists who PVR for later Peter-pulling?

Thank fuck I can watch a movie after 9 PM that's still got both audio and video, without interruption.

And anyone who defends the censors here, on a porn board is a fucking hypocrite.

not really. one, it's seriously an adult oriented chatboard. just try flooding the board with links to download porn and see what happens if you doubt me.

two, i love porn, but that doesn't mean i think it should just be out there everywhere in full view 24/7

there's too much hyperbole here. it's fucking annoying.

Fair enough. Chill pill taken.

I agree...but there should be real sex available and integrated into shows, or in replacement for some of the killing.

They said AM radio was dead and then, you know, Limbaugh...

And there are single youtube channels that dwarf him.

Compare youtube alone to AM.......now consider the internet.

The impact is already apparent and being felt industry wide and I think for the most part TV will die with genX the same way radio will die with the boomers.

I don't know if the networks will go away or if they will just transition into the new emerging distribution models.

They won't go away until long after we're gone, but their audiences will continue to shrink to a rather marginal market until it's so outdated relatively speaking nobody uses it.

Oh for sure. It's pretty fun watching all these entertainers run out and Dixie Chick themselves though.

I'm just waiting for NASCAR to go totally suicidal and start lecturing it's consumers on white privilege and how all white oppressors need to give all their money and property to people of color or live with being a Nazi in Amerikkka.

Personally I run a tight ship at BB inc. with regard to religion and politickin' ....we keep it neutral. Our job is to produce and deliver top quality products and a price that's good for both BB inc and the consumer. Not to push or even involve ourselves with any particular ideologies and it's served me well so I intend to keep it that way.

Can't get mad at your money....;)

This....and if there is something I really really want to watch? I just buy it on Amazon, commercial free, binge ready.

When I lived in Italy there was a game show on TV called Colpo Grosso where the contestants bet clothing. The USofA needs more quality entertainment like that.
