(BTW, my name means dawn of day... Persia.)

JAMES m English, Biblical
Pronounced: JAYMZ
English form of the Late Latin Jacomus which was derived from Iakobos, the New Testament Greek form of Ya'aqob (see JACOB). In the New Testament James is an important apostle, the brother of the apostle John. According to the Book of Acts he was beheaded by Herod Agrippa. Another James is also mentioned in the Bible as being the brother of Jesus. Kings of England and Scotland have borne this name. Other famous bearers include the inventor of the steam engine James Watt, the explorer Captain James Cook, and the novelist and poet James Joyce. Not to mention the poet I share a birthday with, James Morrison :D

(one of those James who was the king of both England and Scotland, James the 5th of Scotland/James the first of England, the one responsible for our most popular version of the Bible, is a direct ancestor of mine....the "5" in my Lit name represents me being the 5th male in a direct line to carry my name)

Yanno, I got to get up for work in 5 1/2 hours, I have no CLUE what I am doing stalking ADR around all of her threads.....:D

Thank you!! It was actually thought to have originated from the indigenous adaptation in the days of early colonisation when the only Anglo women in Australia were convicts and indentured servants/slaves. I am rapt to have found despite my mother's horror to be told (well she refuses to believe it) she chose a name of indigenous and historicl significance, that it has that deep tie to the history of a country and culture I feel is flowing in my blood no matter where I exist in time. Deadly, mate.

"your name is not found in this database"

So I used the English translation, which is from Greek, which is from the Hebrew form of the word meaning "God is my Oath" Also the mother of John the Baptist had the same name..

BRIAN m Irish, English
Pronounced: BRIE-an
The meaning of this name is not known for certain but it is possibly related to the Old Celtic element bre meaning "hill", or by extension "high, noble". Brian Boru was an Irish king who thwarted Viking attempts to conquer Ireland in the 11th century. He was victorious in the Battle of Clontarf, but he himself was slain.

JACQUELINE f French, English
Pronounced: zha-ku-LEEN (French), JAK-e-leen (English), JAK-we-leen (English), JAK-e-lin (English), JAK-we-lin (English)
Feminine form of JACQUES, commonly used in the English-speaking world.

Jacques = jacob or James

my name isn't anything important.

Great - now we have Madam Marsupial and the Lizard King both - and James keeps saying things are getting odd????

But at least they're never boring

ROBERT m English, French, Scandinavian
Pronounced: RAW-burt (English), ro-BER (French)
Means "bright fame", derived from the Germanic elements hrod "fame" and beraht "bright". The Normans introduced this name to Britain. It belonged to three kings of Scotland, including Robert the Bruce who restored the independence of Scotland from England in the 14th century. The author Robert Browning and poets Robert Burns and Robert Frost are famous literary bearers of this name. Also, Robert E. Lee was the commander of the Confederate army during the American Civil War.

Well, with me around normal is sort of out of the question
And Madam Marsupial actually got me on the cold blooded obsession by inspiring the Gecko Sex thread :D

Well, my name is Kimberley. Depending on what site you go to, it means

1) Royal Fortress
2) Ruler
3) Leader of the Warriors
4) Royal Fortress Medow

Number 4 is most common, I think.
