Moment of Identity...Email from a Navy Ensign (it's long but true)

You have to admire any show of unity between nations. I would imagine there is a deep and abiding camaraderie amongst sailors and other armed forces - no matter their country of origin.

Scary prospect being at sea in uncertain times. Not knowing their orders until the last possible minute is no doubt nerve-wracking. And to remember that many of them are youngsters...

This is another of those heart warming stories that makes your eyes water and your heart beat a little faster. Just like seeing them raise Old Glory over Buckingham Palace while playing the Star Spangled Banner.

Thanks for sharing that, DA.

Damn you Desert Amazon...

I thought I'd got over the tears...

great letter... thankyou for posting.
no doubt, it is very difficult for those on board the ships to be away from their loved ones back home. i can certainly understand their confusion about what is expected of them and the "need to know" situations.
hopefully, things will work out well and they will be heading back for home safe and sound.
it is very nice to see the show of support from other countries. i could not think of any other greater show of support than the one written about by the german navy.
very commendable.

Thank you so much for sharing such an incredible letter. It is nice to know that we are not fighting this battle alone, but with the help and support of the world community. Whatever lies ahead, we can at least take comfort in that.
