So I just had this idea pop into my head. If this cost let's say $1000/40k words, would you be interested? It would enable an author to create a professional quality audiobook ready for self-publishing.

The idea is great but speaking for myself, I don't have that kind of money. Literotica is geared towards self publishing for free, sometimes as a forum to try out your works before taking them to Patreon, Smashwords or other sites. I'd love to work with Audio producers/VA's but I am afraid for me, now, it would all have to be volunteer.

A small bedroom with soft furnishings is good enough for recording sound. You can buy a decent microphone for $50, assuming you already have a computer, and software like reaper.fm can be used for free. What am I getting for the other $950?

A walk-in closet works too. If you have one, go in and talk. It should sound super dead. (That's a good thing)

I'd be open to the idea, if you could clarify it a bit..

With the improvements in AI technology, I can't see the value in paying some VA to read my stories.

Using things like Amazon Polly to convert the text to speech and then editing with applications such as Audacity, you can achieve reasonably good quality. Not good enough for most audiobook distributors, but quite good enough for website posting and download sales.

Here is a link to a reading from one of my novels. It is a sample reading and not the actual audiobook itself, which went through a lot more editing, however, it does demonstrate the improvements in AI technology for audio creation from written works.

I think it would be a long shot to get back the thousand dollars especially if we're talking erotica.

Get it down to $250 I'd say it could be worth it.
